Does insurance cover complications days after an elective surgery I paid for?

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing complications from surgery. Typically health insurance does not cover complications that are a result of cosmetic surgery. All plans are different, so you will need to speak with your insurance provider to verify what is covered. Your plastic surgeon's office should be able to provide you with procedure and diagnosis codes that you can relay to your insurance company. We include CosmetAssure as part of our patient's surgery package. It covers the cost of most out-of-pocket expenses from complications that may arise after having cosmetic surgery. I am sorry for your complications. Please realize that these complications can and do occur. Your surgeon will get you through this difficult time. Insurance typically covers life threatening complications from any surgery. However, I would check with your insurance carrier to make sure this is covered. Some insurance carriers excluded coverage for any problem related to cosmetic surgery.

Your insurance should cover complications, however insurance policies can vary greatly. The only way to find out is to contact your insurance company. Good luck.

Lili.  Sorry you are having these issues after mommy makeover surgery. In most instances, health insurance should cover complications related to your surgery, specifically the hematoma. At the very least, the admission for your heart problems certainly will be covered by your insurance, even if it was the result of the cosmetic surgery. The most important thing at this time is to stay calm and get better! Best of luck.

I'm sorry to hear you are having issues after your surgery.  Typically insurance will cover health related issues stemming from your surgery.  It is always best to check with your carrier though as each policy is different.

In my experience, acute complications are often covered but these days you never know. Obviously, you can't get prior approval but perhaps a call to them would be helpful though my guess is they they say they can't tell you until AFTER the surgery. :-I
