Hello. Great question. I am sorry for your post op difficulties. Please schedule a follow up appointment with your surgeon. A personal examination is needed to properly address your concerns.
Karla. Hard to say without physical examination, but it appears from your description and photographs that you are either having an allergic reaction or simply dryness of the surgical incision sites, which is normal. I would certainly see your plastic surgeon as soon as possible for a full evaluation and treatment plan. Good luck.
Some general insights into why you might be experiencing itching, bumps, and other sensations after a mommy makeover surgery. However, it's important to consult with your surgeon or a medical professional for personalized advice and proper diagnosis.1.) Healing Process: Itching is a common part of the healing process after surgery. As the incisions and tissues heal, nerve endings can become more sensitive, leading to itching sensations.2.) Scar Tissue Formation: The formation of scar tissue during the healing process can cause itching. The skin and underlying tissues are repairing themselves, and as new tissue forms, it can create sensations of itchiness.3.) Dry Skin: Following surgery, the skin in the treated areas might become dry due to reduced blood flow during the healing phase. Dry skin can feel itchy and lead to scratching.4.) Sutures and Staples: If sutures or staples were used to close the incisions, they can sometimes cause irritation or inflammation as they dissolve or are removed. This irritation can lead to itching and discomfort.5.) Swelling: Swelling can contribute to stretching and pulling sensations in the surgical areas, which might trigger itching.6.) Allergic Reaction: It's possible that you could be experiencing an allergic reaction to the materials used in sutures, dressings, or other products applied to the incision sites.7.) Infection: Although less common, itching can be a sign of infection. If you notice increased redness, warmth, pain, or unusual discharge from the incision sites, it's important to contact your surgeon to rule out infection. As for the bumps that appear when you scratch, scratching can cause small skin irritations or microtrauma. This can lead to the release of histamines and other chemicals in the skin, causing a localized reaction that manifests as bumps, redness, and further itching. This cycle of itching, scratching, and bumps can become self-perpetuating.To manage these symptoms:1.) Avoid Scratching: Although it's difficult, try to avoid scratching the itchy areas, as scratching can exacerbate irritation and potentially lead to infection.2.) Moisturize: Keeping the skin well moisturized can help alleviate dryness and itchiness.3.) Cool Compresses: Applying cool, damp compresses to the itchy areas might provide temporary relief.4.) Over-the-Counter Creams: You could consider asking your surgeon or doctor if it's safe to use over-the-counter anti-itch creams or lotions.5.) Consult Your Surgeon: If the itching is severe or persistent, it's important to reach out to your surgeon or healthcare provider for guidance. They can evaluate your specific situation and provide appropriate recommendations.Remember that this advice is general in nature, and you should always seek advice from a medical professional who can provide personalized guidance based on your individual circumstances.
I recommend visiting with your surgeon for an examination. It may be an allergic reaction or something else entirely. Your surgeon is the best one to advise you on how to proceed.
Hello darling.. Thank you for your questions and the provided pictures. It is hard to assess without seeing you in person, I'd suggest expressing your concerns to your PS in charge, and notify him/her whatever may be causing you discomfort. Hope this helps.Kind regards, Dr. Jiménez Toribio Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon.
Your itching could still be related to surgery and should improve over time. Try Benadryl tablets or cream. Maybe check the soaps and detergents you are using as well.
Thank you for your question. Basically I tell women that they can return to sexual activity when they are comfortable. We want to limit using the abdominal muscles for the first 4-6 weeks or so, and then be relatively careful with everything until everything is really settled at two months. So...
For the tummy tuck, your skin is stretched and sewn snugly to give the flattest result possible. As the skin eases you will be able to stand up straight and walk normally, usually in a week or so. Good luck.
