Botox to lift the corner of my smile?

Thank you for sharing your question and photos. Yes, a small amount of Botox to the DAO (depressor anguli oris) can relax the muscle that pulls down on the corners of the mouth. Usually, a very small amount of Botox is required and results can last between 3-4 months. Once Botox is on board, dermal fillers such as Restyalne or Juvederm can be injected to supplement the results if needed. For more information about which injectables are right for you, I recommend consulting with a board-certified specialist. 

Thanks for posting your question. I would suggest a combination of dermal filler and Botox or Dyport for the depressor muscle at the corner of the mouth. This will likely make it better but not exactly the same. Tha's jus the limitations of what can be done.Best wishes, Dr. ALDO

Botox can be placed in the DAO muscle for a slight uptick in the corner of the mouth.  However the lateral commissure of the mouth is, to some extent, what it is: the corners may not be even because off where the commissure inserts.  

A close analysis of the facial asymmetry in question is necessary.  Often, if you look closely enough, asymmetries from one side of the face to the other often balance with other features on the same side of the face.

There are also techniques to permanently change the position of the corners of the mouth with DAO reduction or division.  These are technically challenging cases and are best performed by surgeons with experience in this area.

There are many reasons for uneven smile and, based on your pictures, it appears that the muscle(s) on your right side (the side with flatter smile) are different different to the other side. The nasolabial fold on right side and the left side are different indicating muscle issues.I would recommend being assessed by an expert prior to proceeding with any treatments.Best regards and I hope this helps, Dr. Sapijaszko

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  Unfortunately I think that the differences between your right and left sides are due to your underlying muscle anatomy and are unlikely to be improved by either filler or Botox. 

The only way to raise the corner of the mouth with Botox is to weaken the muscles that pull the corner of the mouth down on that side.  This may help but only if the pull down muscle is a factor in the balance of your smile on that side.  Seeking out an experienced Botox injector would be highly recommended as this is a tough area to treat.

You should not feel bad about your smile we are often more critical of ourselves than others are of us.  I suggest to weaken the right depressor anguli oris (DAO muscle) with Botox to lessen the pulling down of the right corner of your mouth.  I would also inject filler to the right cheek to match it's volume with the left.  Try first with a small number of units of Botox (approximately 3 units) and a smaller volume of filler to make sure you see an improvement.  If it does, then add more.  Don't be too drastic in the beginning.  Remember the enemy of good is perfect. 

Most people have an asymmetric face and smile. In your case you have more pull (facial smile muscles) on your left hence showing more teeth with an upward slant on the corner of the mouth.  It would be easier to make the left weaker to match the right using Botox or Xeomin.  However, injecting the DAO muscle (with Botox or Xeomin) on the right and using dermal fillers could lift the corner of the mouth but it would be hard to match it exactly to the side that you like.  Seek out an expert facial plastic surgeon in your area for superior results.
