Do I have a negative canthal tilt? Thinking about getting a canthoplasty. (photos)

Question

Just to preface, I do have body dysmorphia. However, some people have pointed out I have a NCT, and I honestly can’t tell if it’s there or not. If I don’t have one, is there something else like ptosis? I don’t want to jump into getting a surgery if there’s nothing to work on.

It appears you have negative canthal tilt which means the outer corner of your eyes is low but need more detailed evaluation to determine. Canthoplasty is a potential treatment.

Great question. An in person exam would is necessary to best advise you. First, it is wonderful that you acknowledge the body dysmorphia. For your eyes, I would not recommend any surgery. While there is very mild negative canthal tilt it is something that 99.9% of people will not notice and is a surgery that may lead to other surgeries if not perfect for you. I wish you the best and particularly with the history of body dysmorphia, would not recommend any surgery.
