I'm 4 weeks post abdominoplasty with muscle repair. I feel good and can stand straight. I am fit at 5'1" 110lbs and had the surgery for the purpose of repairing the 4 inch gap I had in my abs. I have always been curvy and flexible but since surgery the midline of my abs is so tight that I cannot arch my back at all and the natural curve I had is gone. Will flexibility and my natural back curves come back? Are there stretches that I can do to improve the tightness in my abs?
Answer: Tight muscular reconstruction The flexibility will return over a period of months to years. The tightness is the result of reconstructing the muscular corset. It is much too early to be doing stretches.

Answer: Flexibility and back arch after abdominoplasty 4 weeks is still early in the recovery to make any final determinations. I recommend waiting 6 weeks until starting your usual exercise routine including abdominal exercises. Having said that, after a few months, you should have full flexibility and improved core strength since your diastasis is repaired. Stick with your plastic surgeon's recommendations regarding your recovery and return to activity. Congratulations on your successful procedure!

Answer: Flexibility and back arch after tummy tuck... You are only 4 weeks out from a tummy tuck with muscle repair. These are common problems that are encountered with every tummy tuck that is done to acquire the best result possible. It may take several months for your abdominal muscles to feel normal after the muscle plication, but I find that many patients actually believe their posture is better with less back pain after the surgery. Take care and good luck.

Answer: Flexibility after TT Thank you for your question. "4 inch gap" is a large area that has been repaired and it will take your body and muscles time to adjust to the new core strength that you have. Keep in mind that you didn't have a core strength until your board certified plastic surgeon repaired your "gap". You are still early and will take some time for your flexibility to return but once it does, you will have a strong core and will be feeling much better. Please follow up with your plastic surgeon for detailed recommendations on activity. Best of luck.
