Odor from incision post tummy tuck. Is this normal?

At three weeks after the tummy tuck, the fact that there is still tape on the incision is most likely the cause of the odor.

I would guess that probably proper hygiene will correct the foul smell but this is still something that you should bring to the attention of your surgeon.

Generally speaking, a bad odor coming from your incision needs to be investigated. It is not normal.  It can be something as minor as fluid under your dressing that needs to be cleaned and changed.  It can also indicate an infection. I recommend you follow up with your surgeon immediately for an evaluation.

Address this issue asap to your surgeon, this odor could be the warning light of an infection, though also something normal.

You need to see your operating surgeon for follow up . It is always best to address your post-opertative concerns/questions with your operating surgeon.

Although the odor may just be from the tapes being in place for so long, it may be a sign of a wound infection, so a call to your surgeon is my suggestion.All the best. 

Thanks for your question.  It may be normal for the dressing to have a slight odor if it has been in place for several weeks.  Best to be seen in person by your surgeon to make sure there is no evidence of underlying infection.  

Sometimes an odor coming from around the taped area may be quite “normal”; removal of the tape may be all that is necessary. Best to follow up with your plastic surgeon who will always be your best resource. Best wishes.
