Is this bulge above the tummy tuck incision normal? (Photo)

No, this is not a good tummy tuck result.  The scar is contracted and drawn inward.  This will not improve with time and will need a revision to improve.  This may also be contributing to the appearance of fullness in the skin above the scar.  I don't know why your scar is located so high.  It would certainly be a good question to ask your doctor.  Normally, the scar should be located just above the pubic area.  It is difficult to tell how much improvement you might achieve with a revision based on your pictures.  I would suggest scheduling a consultation with another plastic surgeon in your area who can evaluate you in person and review your options with you.

This early after the tummy tuck it is impossible to know what it will look like later.  You may need a revision to lower the scar.

Because of alterations to lymphatic drainage in the skin, the fullness you are experiencing is fairly common.  This will improve as swelling subsides.

Thank you for your picture. I agree that your incision is high. It will not drop down. Your contour may improve slightly.  

Looks like fluids retention and some blood too, this may experience spontaneous leakage or need evacuation. Address your surgeon asap.

Thank you for your before and after pics.  Swelling this early after TT is very normal and it will take 6 months for your tissues to normalize and heal.  In my opinion, given the depression of your scar, we have to wait and see how your final scar looks.   Please follow up with your board certified plastic surgeon and bring up your concerns. Swelling is normal and can months to resolve but in your case the s ar is depressed which will not improve and is contributing.  I think it is likely you will benefit from a revision.to improve contour, and lower and revise the scar.  This would all be straightforward, but you need yo give it 6-8 months to fully eval

Hello and thanks for these questions.  17 days after this extensive amount of surgery is not enough time to heal so please do not worry about swelling.  I tell my patients to wait about 6 months minimum to see the final result.  The location of your scar is very high in my opinion.  I place it just above the pubic hair-bearing skin in the bikini area.  You certainly should ask your surgeon why he placed it there.  I do not think it will drop significantly.  

Thank you for your pictures.  Although some of the bulging may be attributed to swelling, it appears that you will most certainly need a revision to remove the excess skin and tissue that has been left behind.  You are correct in feeling that the scar should be lower, and this could be revised also.  I am sorry not to be able to give you better news.  An in-person consultation with another board-certified plastic surgeon is probably indicated. 

I must comment on a poorly preformed TT. Incision place to high and the closure unlevel. Was your surgeon a boarded PS???
