Hi All, I had a full tummy tuck and 2x hernia repairs in October last year. I am a long distance runner and was having terrible issues with large separation and chronic infection in my c section scar. I am battling terrible swelling post run, I have reduced Km but it still is an issue. I’ve a sauna mat, have had some RF treatment and lymphatic massage. Any suggestions? Please tell me this will improve
Answer: Tackling Post-Run Swelling After Tummy Tuck and Hernia Repairs Hello, I understand your concerns about swelling after your tummy tuck and hernia repairs, especially as a long-distance runner. It's important to remember that everyone's recovery journey is different, and it may take some time for your body to fully heal and adjust to the changes. Swelling after strenuous activity like running is not uncommon, even several months post-op. It's essential to continue listening to your body and adjusting your running routine accordingly. You may need to further reduce your running distance or intensity temporarily to allow your body more time to heal. It's great that you've been trying various methods to address the swelling, such as using a sauna mat, radiofrequency treatment, and lymphatic massage. You can also try elevating the affected area when resting, wearing a compression garment, and staying hydrated. As time passes, the swelling should gradually improve. However, if you continue to experience persistent or worsening swelling, it's crucial to consult with your plastic surgeon or a healthcare professional to determine the cause and identify the most appropriate course of action. Thank you for your question, and I hope this information helps you on your road to recovery. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen

Answer: Swelling I encourage you to visit with your surgeon to discuss your concerns. The lymphatic massages may help and you may benefit from abdominal support during activity. Your surgeon is most familiar with the details of your surgery and how you've been progressing through recovery and is the best one to advise on what is recommended for you.

Answer: Phsical examination needed. Hi, Considerate734805! Thank you for your question. Unfortunately the problem you’re describing may not be solved from this application. There might be a chronic inflammation or recurrence of the herniation. So a thorough medical examination is needed to diagnose and to solve your situation.
