I noticed a small firm bump forming about 5 wks post op tummy tuck.. just above my navel. Even today, at 4 mos. Post op, if I wear my binder consistently for multiple days the 'bump' isn't noticeable. The more I have my binder off and am active, the more the bump protrudes. It is very firm. Is that consistent with a pseudobursa or just muscle swelling?

Answer: More time night be needed... Thank you for the photos you shared. At 4 months post op you likely still have some slight swelling that is occurring in some areas of your abdomen. This swelling typically resolves at about 6 months post op but with the symptoms you describe with your abdominal binder causing it to regress you may want to talk to your plastic surgeon about it. This way they can get a better idea of what is going on with the area and maybe even do an ultrasound to determine if there is a seroma (fluid collection) in the area.

Answer: Tummy Tuck Wound Thank you for your question and thank you for your picture. While it is difficult to tell without an actual examination The bump could meet many things. A bump on a scar could point to a hypertrophic area of scarring which normally is treated by steroid injections or massage with a silicone scar gel. I tell my patients that areas of swelling take about 6 months to fully resolve. In any case I would keep in close contact with your plastic surgeon who will be able to guide you in the appropriate treatment.
