Why at my young age do I suffer from an abundance of bright red broken blood vessels on my face, chest and shoulders?

These started back in 2003 when I was expecting my first child. I've noticed over the years these broken blood vessels become brighter and more abundant during pregnancy. I am only 28 years old and expecting babygirl 4 in just 2 months time and this disorder/condition has taken such a toll on my self esteem. I Find myself using more and more concealer all over my face chest and shoulders to hide these embarrassing marks. The department of health even asked I wear a scarf to cover my chest :-(

Hello Natashafelixa, thank you for your question.  I am sorry for your current situation.
Unfortunately, increased broken vessels and spider veins are not uncommon
during subsequent pregnancies.  Broken
blood vessels are typically genetically based. Hopefully, many of these broken
capillaries will disappear after the delivery of your child. I would suggest
you wait 4-6 months after your daughter’s delivery. This allows the circulating
hormones to return to “normal” levels. If the broken capillaries are still
present, I would suggest either injection or laser treatment. If you have any

Genetic factors, excessive sun exposure or a skin type named rosacea can all cause broken capillaries on the face, neck or chest. Please see a board-certified dermatologist to evaluate your skin. Often Vbeam® laser (pulsed-dye laser) can treat broken capillaries on the face and body very effectively.

Once you deliver your child, wait 4-6 weeks and see a dermatologist. They should improve in appearance once the hormonal surge during pregnancy diminishes. You may well have rosacea or some other treatable skin condition. IPL is usually a good treatment for what you are describing.

Most likely these blood vessels are either hormonally or genetically caused.  You should first see a dermatologist to see if a diagnosis could be made then, depending on the diagnosis, the treatment could be instituted and you can see the appropriate treating physician.
