I am concerned about the wrinkles and dents where my nipples have been attached. Attached are photos please let me know if you think this will fix itself after time or if I may need additional surgery for more natural look. I am not worried about the other scars, just where the nipples were attached. Thank you,

Answer: Wrinkles after Breast Reduction Thanks for the question and photos. It looks like you are still very early after breast reduction, and most of these things get better with time. If you are concerned, make an appointment with your surgeon for evaluation.

Answer: Healing after breast reduction Hi and welcome to our forum! The breast reduction procedure involves separation of the skin and soft tissues of the breast from underlying breast tissue, removal of excess skin, soft tissue and breast tissue, and closure of the incisions around the areola and the inferior poles of the breasts with suture material. This represents a significant "insult" to the tissues of the chest, resulting in the development of inflammatory swelling which initially totally obscures and distorts the operative result. From your photos, you appear to be extremely early in your postoperative course. 60-80% of the swelling will; subside at the 6th week, with the remainder slowly subsiding over 6-12 months. The skin envelope also must readjust to the smaller breast. The scars will take a year to mature, soften, and the incisions will become somewhat indistinct. Continue followup with your plastic surgeon. Best wishes...
