When can I stop dressing my incisions?

It has been 2 weeks after your surgery if your incisions have closed no drains and healing I usually suggest my patients using BIO OIL light massage when applying it twice a day this helps keep skin from getting dry, also helps with scarring helps reduce the incision line. Each surgeon has their own technique which ever helps you best.

Once the top layer of skin has healed, I advise my patients to stop putting on dressings. Local ointments and silicone gel dressings can help improve the quality of scars. Please discuss your queries with your surgeon, who can guide you with topical ointments and other post operative care. All The Best !

It sounds like your incisions are healing well by what we call (primary intention). Basically there is new skin sealing the incision.  Different surgeons treat post op incisions differently.   I use Steri-strips for a week and then Embrace silicone scar dressings for the next 6 weeks.  But personally, I don't think you need Vaseline gauze dressings at this point.  However, I would ask your surgeon and have a discussion.

You are almost 2 weeks out from surgery, and if all the incisions have healed with no drainage, your healing sounds like it's going very well.  I often use different types of dressings for the first week or two (steri strips, silicone gel, etc), but I decide on the type of dressings based on your healing progress.  I recommend checking with your surgeon.  Good luck!

Every plastic surgeon uses different dressing regimens.  I usually use a skin glue called Dermabond on the incisions after breast reduction surgery and when that comes off after 2-3 weeks I have patients start to use a silicone scar gel on the incisions.

It's safe to say you can stop with the dressings at this point. A silicone based scar gel would be an excellent idea, applied twice daily, for the next 6 months. All my best in your recovery. Sound like you're on track. 

Thank you for your question.  Each surgeon has their own post operative protocol to follow.  I would say it's ok to stop at this point but would suggest you contact your surgeon and follow their instructions.  Best of luck to you. 

Post op regimen will differ from one surgeon to the next. The best advice is to follow the instructions of your surgeon. He/she has developed these protocols over time and they are based on experience.In my practice, most patients have stopped incisional care regimen/dressing changes by 2 weeks postop. As long as the wound is healing without incident, I do not require further dressing changes (for my patients).As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).

During the healing process, incisions should be kept dry and alone.
