Chin ptosis, lower lip shrink after chin removal (Photo)

Question

In 2013 got a medpore chin implant which looked. to big for my face so a couple of weeks later I asked my surgeon to remove it but he insisted just cut the sides “to make it look smaller“. after, I kept the implant for 6 more months and finally got it removed. So I got chin ptosis which treated with botox until the last 2 years where botox is not working any more, my lower lip is loose and shrink in the middle, I am not able to close my mouth with having to make a big effort. I need help

Hi. Unfortunately, there is no method to solve these problems. I recommend silicone for chin implants because it does not cause such problems when the implant is removed. Hello ! Thank you for your question 10 years is a very long time for an implant, I recommend to chin implant revision surgery, it is very important to first remove the old implant and choose the implant volume where we will place a new implant after that area is completely cleaned.

Your chin ptosis is more common than we'd like to see.
Botox can be a "superficial" or temporary solution. In your situation, we employ a technique to correct your chin/lip's position permanently.

Hi there! Since the implant has been removed, it's possible that there's scarring and empty space that isn't allowing the skin to contract. Sometimes, the mentalis muscle is injured and can give the "witch's chin" look. If so, your chin may require reconstruction to position it in a more favorable spot. This can often be done through the mouth using suture. Seek consultation with another surgeon if you have questions not being answered by your primary surgeon. Hope this helps.
