Dear Tany88,every plastic surgeon has his own preoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Having low calcium levels can potentially impact your eligibility for certain surgical procedures, including liposuction and Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL). Calcium is a crucial mineral for various bodily functions, and maintaining a balance is essential for overall health. Here are some considerations:1. Blood Clotting and Bone Health: Calcium plays a vital role in blood clotting, and maintaining an appropriate level is important to minimize the risk of excessive bleeding during surgery. Additionally, calcium is essential for bone health, and low levels may affect bone density.2. Medical Evaluation: Before undergoing any elective surgery, including liposuction or Brazilian Butt Lift, your surgeon will conduct a thorough medical evaluation. This evaluation may include blood tests to assess various parameters, including calcium levels.3. Surgeon's Assessment: The surgeon will consider your overall health, medical history, and lab results to determine if you are a suitable candidate for the procedure. If your calcium levels are low, the surgeon may work with you and potentially your primary care physician to address this issue before proceeding with surgery.4. Risk Management: Low calcium levels could increase the risk of complications during and after surgery. Surgeons prioritize patient safety, and they may delay or recommend against the procedure until any underlying medical issues, such as low calcium levels, are addressed. It's important to communicate openly with your surgeon about your overall health, including any known medical conditions or concerns. They will guide you through the pre-operative assessment process and provide recommendations based on your individual health status.Always follow the advice of your plastic surgeon to ensure a safe and successful surgical experience. If you have concerns about your calcium levels or any other health-related issue, consult with your plastic surgeon before proceeding with elective cosmetic surgery.
Low calcium levels alone would not necessarily prevent you from having liposuction. However, before undergoing any surgical procedure, it’s important to be in good overall health. Low calcium levels can be a sign of an underlying medical issue, and your surgeon would likely assess your overall health as part of the pre-operative evaluation. If you have low calcium levels, your surgeon may want to address this issue before proceeding with liposuction to ensure your body can handle the surgery and recover effectively. Always follow your healthcare provider’s advice when considering any surgical procedure.
If your calcium is not too low and you are having no issues, then you should be able to proceed with surgery. Otherwise, please check with your medical doctor.
Depends on how low your calcium is??? Best to ask the chosen operative surgeon, unless you are using a clinic setting. Then for sure you will be cancelled! But you need to be sure the new rules in Florida for ultrasound guided BBL are being used... Best virtual consult with....
Only if your calcium level is VERY low would it affect your surgery. I do not test for electrolytes (Calcium, sodium, potassium etc.) when performing surgery unless patients have medical issues or are taking medications that may affect their levels.Dr. Taranow
Your surgeon and anesthesiologist will be the ones that need to give the greenlight for having surgery so I suggest you discuss this with your plastic surgeon if you have one.If you don’t have a plastic surgeon then I suggest having a few in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons in your community.I do not recommend patients travel long distances for elective surgical procedures. Patients do not seem to appreciate the importance of having in person consultations, the need for in person follow up visits, the number of people who have issues regarding the results, will need revision surgery or that complications actually do happen.Best,Mats Hagstrom MD
Low calcium can effect anesthesia for liposuction but should not stop anyone from having liposuction. What will stop you, at least with any reasonable surgeon, is your 208 LBS. AT 5’ 6”. Your BMI is 33. This is significantly outside normal liposuction which is for correcting localized fatty accumulations when you are at a normal weight. You need to lose to or, preferably, below 155 lb. before considering liposuction.
After liposuction, it’s important to follow your surgeon’s recommendations regarding post-operative care, including the use of compression garments like a faja. While typically compression garments are worn immediately after surgery and during the initial recovery period, your surgeon’s advic...
You would need to be thoroughly evaluated prior to surgery. Running a marathon is a big hit on your body. Following that with a surgery (even under local) might be a bit too much. My honest advise would be to wait at least 2-3 weeks after the marathon for your body to recover
Based on the pictures, you are a very good candidate for liposuction. Injecting the fat to other areas also is possible if certain conditions are met. There is no reason for you not to be able to wear your dress of choice or engage in social activitied because of your hip shape! The definitive...
