Whether of Hispanic or African or certain Caucasian ethnic groups, the undefined tip accompanied with thick skin requires in my experience a rather definitive approach, where the first step is achieving strong tip support- usually achieved with a caudal septal extension graft, the most powerful way of securing the tip. From there, tip definition can be further achieved with tip sculpting and refinement, occasionally coupled when indicated with the placement of some type of type graft which can be of cartilage or even soft tissue. Do your homework to find a surgeon with lots of photos similar to your case.
You can have a more attractive nose even though the skin is thick. See a very experienced surgeon who does noses like yours. Look at before-and-after pictures and do not rely on imaging.
Hi. Better photos would have been very helpful. It seems that your main issue is a very thick and oily skin. You will benefit from a rhinoplasty. The nose is comprised of certain components, skin, cartilage, mucosa and bone. Whenever any of these individuals components are a dealt with, they affect the others and there is a domino effect. Whomever you finally chose, needs to be very well experienced in cosmetic rhinoplasty . The surgeon needs to realize that cosmetics surgery of the nose is the most complex in nasal anatomy. there is nothing worse than to have good looking nose from which you can't breathe.I make the following analogy. Suppose you have a beautiful sculpture. You then take a large sheet of silk and cover it. You can still see the fine definition of the underlying sculpture because the silk is thin enough to allow for this. You then take thesilk off and you cver the sculpture with a wool blanket. Yu will still be able to a see the contour of the underlying sculpture but you just won't be able to see the fine definition you saw when it was covered with the silk.I encourage you to look up the surgeon you eventually select and make sure they are certified by the American Board of Plastic surgery and have years of experience in performing rhinoplasty How about the surgery center Do your homework......research and verify the doctor's credentials. Have they had problems with the Board of Medicine, disciplinary or otherwise. Any law suits? Good luck.I wish you the best on your journey. I hope that the info provided has been helpful. Should you require any further clarification, do not hesitate to contact us. I personally conduct all the consultations and formulate an individual operative plan based on physical findings. We are one of only a few in South Florida that employ a web based program called TouchMD. Through this program potential patients from as far away as California can upload their photos. I then review each and everyone and draw my recommendations on your actual picture. This info is made available to you with the use of a private password that only you will have. TouchMD is private and follows all applicable privacy laws (HIPPA). I answer all questions personally, not through patient coordinators or other marketing individuals. Good Luck Dr. PG
Dear SaraIn general, your nose can be made to look more narrow and your tip can have increased definition. The degree of definition is limited primarily by the thickness of your soft tissue envelope. A natural result is not the same to any two patients. Your job is to communicate the result that you want with good description and pictures so you and your surgeon are on the same page. Most surgeons will go over a series of before and after pictures and you can discuss the results and your preferences at that time. Consult with more than one surgeon.
Although patients with thicker skin pose a challenge to the rhinoplasty surgeon, I still believe that you will achieve a natural, refined appearance with a surgical rhinoplasty. I recommend seeking out a Board-Certified plastic or facial surgeon who will accurately assess your nose, create a "simulation" that will show you what your nose COULD look like, and formulate a plan tailored to your wishes. Good luck!
What you want done is completely up to you. Maybe a Rhinoplasty, Rhinoplasty typically starts at $5,500 depending on the area you live. To make sure you get the best possible result, the surgeon should perform a detailed exam of the nose and provide a realistic goal that you and your surgeon agree upon. Rhinoplasty are permanent, but with age facial features do change. Find a surgeon and go for a consult, I think you would be very happy after the surgery.
Hi Sara - difficult to tell from just one photo, but your "meaty nose" may be mostly the result of excess cartilage (the lower lateral cartilages that help define the nostril - if enlarged and/or splayed, leads to a "boxy tip" deformity) and/or fatty/oily skin, which is less easily addressed. For the former situation, the surgeon can trim and tighten cartilage elements, but the result may be somewhat masked by skin thickness (although ultimately this may look more natural - even if a bit "underwhelming" - since potential flaws/contour irregularities might be somewhat masked). My philosophy is to not try to do too much - just "neutralize" dominating elements - especially in someone younger who is asking for "natural results". Just be sure to see a board-certified surgeon who will listen to your desires so that you end up "on the same page" as best possible . . . hope this helps!
The result is dependent on the amount of tissue removed. Though hard tp predict the tip should look better. Costs $5,000.
The areas of your nose that concern you and would like improved can be refined with a rhinoplasty, in spite of having thicker skin. Keep in mind that following the advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you what to do based on a limited two dimensional photo without examining you, physically feeling the tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history, and discussing the pros and cons of each operative procedure would not be in your best interest. I would suggest you find a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) or facial plastic surgeon (otolaryngologist) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person.Robert Singer, MD FACSLa Jolla, California
You can improve the appearance of your nose despite the very thick skin. It will be worth while if you work with an experienced rhinoplasty specialist who can show you examples of results in noses like yours.
Great question. Yes, one should expect to have a rhinoplasty surgery only once. Here's the issue though - any rhinoplasty requiring grafts, particularly for tip refining may be subject to change for a variety of factors ie. Quality of soft tissue envelop, cartilage warping, cartilage resorption...
Your nasal tip has been rotated too high and is not look aesthetically pleasing. You are going to need to have your tip rotated down to get a more aesthetically pleasing nasolabial angle. In addition, your grafts can be covered with an dermal onlay to cushion your grafts. A...
This is just a general answer as I can not answer unless I was to examine you and talk to you. But commonly when i see a CT like that, it is basically normal. What the issue is, you have a deviated septum. Having a septoplasty may improve your breathing but you would need an...
