Is sharp pain in the superior portion of the vertical incision normal after three months of having a flue-de-ls? The pain is like a sharp knife was cutting through my abdominal muscles when standing up after sitting. How long is the usual recovery after having a flour-de-lis abdominoplasty?

Hello, I find that most of my patients are feeling well and have returned to full activities by 3 months after a fleur-de-lys abdominoplasty, although a minority can have persistent aches and pains for a longer time.  If you are still having significant symptoms it is best to discuss your concerns with your surgeon.

The fleur-de-lis is a very technical type of tummy tuck and it is not
uncommon to have pain in the vertical incision several months after
surgery.However, it is very important
that you follow up with your surgeon if you continue to experience pain.

The recovery after flour-de-lis will depend upon both surgical technique and patient related factors. Sharp knife like pain could be related to different things following abdominoplasty;  sensory nerves, muscle plication, skin tension, ect. I recommend you follow up with your surgeon to discuss.
