Is numbness after my coolsculpting normal?

in the treatment area following a CoolSculpting procedure is one of the typical
side effects. Cryolipolysis, the scientific process on which the CoolSculpting
procedure is based, involves lowering the temperature of fat cells so they
begin to die without harming the skin. But it still cools the area to the point
that a numb sensation remains temporarily after the procedure. This usually
lasts for at least 2 weeks. You should feel comfortable reaching out to the

Numbness and a dull internal itch are just some of the side effects to be expected from CoolSculpting. Different patients experience different side effects, but overall they generally subside within a week or two after treatment.

Yes numbness is normal and can be improved with massage and oral gabapentin.  I suggest speaking to your physician, but without anything it will resolve in 3-6 months.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Numbness after CoolSculpting is normal. It usually fully resolved by about 2 weeks, but in some cases in can last as long as 6 weeks.

It is completely normal to have numbness after a CoolSculpting treatment.  I find that almost all patients experience some temporary numbness after the procedure and it can take several weeks to resolve.  Sometimes it can take as long as 8 weeks to go away completely.

It is common to have a variety of sensory dysesthesias related to the procedure itself.  These can range from temporary numbness to itching to pain of various types, but they all usually resolve/normalize over a few days or weeks. Discuss with your plastic surgeon.

Numbness is very common after CoolSculpting.  Most of my patients experience numbness, tingling, swelling and some soreness for up to two weeks although some patients have experienced it for up to four weeks. Recovery is very subjective.  All patients recover differently.
