Thanks for your question. Swelling in the first week after liposuction is quite common. It's best to follow your surgeons specific advice post-operatively.

A few thoughts come to mind. I would highly advise against massaging areas treated with fat transfer.  That will kill the grafted fat.  In fact, I don't think massage is needed and can make for a very painful recovery.  I am not in a position to change your postoperative protocol.  I would lean towards immobilization, leg elevations and around the clock ibuprofen.  Rule out medical complications and expect the recovery to get better with time.  We weren't there for the procedure, don't have the luxury of examining you so other than giving gentle reassurance that people do better with time don't expect much help from us here.  Not sure if he even this response was of help to you.
