Dear User1993w,you are probably in early post-operative period and this should improve with time. If you have any concerns, I suggest you to consult your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
If you had SmartLipo or an energy form of lipo, the cobble stoning of the skin noticeable on your abdomen is associated with that type of lipo.Kenneth Hughes, MD, ABPS Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
Thank you for your question and photo. Some redness or discoloration can be normal early after lipo like within 6 weeks. Anything longer then this you should go see your Plastic Surgeon to discuss.Best Wishes!!!Dr. Jamie Moenster, DO, FACOS, FACS
Thanks for your question and fear not. While your note doesn't comment on how long ago you had your procedure this type of coloration variation is not uncommon and resolves with time. While some component may be residual bruising that is resolving; some of this is vascular dilatation that you are seeing in the surface tissues as you heal the deeper injured fatty tissues. Think of it like an incision on your arm that you can see. For several months that scar is pink as blood vessel at dilated and the area inflamed from the process of healing. Much later the scar fades to white. Due to the injury under the skin the surface skin vessel are dilated for some months while everything heals and then the vessel settle down to base line and the skin looks normal again. This can be a longer process than you think since you are so slim so it might show a bit longer in you. My guess is in 3 months it will be gone.
it is highly unlikely he this will be a permanent result. To assess you and give you an accurate question we should know how long ago your procedure was performed. This is going to parents is common soon after the procedure but not common several weeks after. The cobblestone appearance of your skin is sometimes a scene early after liposuction but should not be seen long-term. If this resembles your final result then the procedure was not done well. Do not judge earlier liposuction results especially within the first three weeks. Six weeks is a reasonable time frame to start looking in the mirror but three months is needed for final results. Ideally your provider should've shared this with you. I recognize most of us don't talk about skin color in regards to aftercare. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
It takes time to completely heal from liposuction. There is swelling that occurs from this procedure so do not be discouraged. I ask my patients to not look at their body for several months. Over the course of several months your body will begin to heal. Best of luck!
