Do I need a face lift to address cheek sagging on one side? (Photo)

My number one piece of advise would be to absolutely never do thread lifting. It is a blind-maneuver with minimal effect that certainly does not last. In addition, this makes future facial surgery incredibly challenging due to the internal scarring and foreign body reactions seen with the threads. I would recommend seeing a board-certified plastic surgeon (by the American Board of Plastic Surgery) to further discuss your deepened nasolabial folds. This is usually the result of descent of the adjacent cheek causing the elusion that the fold has deepened.

Thank you for your interesting question. It appears that you are very young and would not see a big difference with a facelift. Thread lifts do not work very well and have many potential complications. I would start with fillers, such as juvederm of fat transfers. They can significantly improve your asymmetry. These procedures have little risk, and last 1-2 years. A mid-face lift is a surgical option, but you appear too young for this procedure. I would recommend to start with fat transfers.

Thank you for your query. A mid-face/cheek lift can help with softening of the naso-labial folds that you are looking for, with a small cut and limited dissection. I would recommend getting it done on both sides with a little more lift on the side which is more saggy. The improvement is significant and long lasting unlike thread lifts. I think a facelift is overly aggressive at your age. You might consider a non-invasive alternative like Sofwave.

Thank you for providing photos along with a great question. First off, I am very glad that you are hesitant about threads. Threads are a less invasive way to temporarily help this problem. However, long term they create a lot of scar and inflammation making a future facelift more challenging. Patients are rarely happy with long term results from threads.
A facelift is likely the best option to reposition the fat and muscle that has descended overtime creating this unwanted fold. Facelifting is about restoring the anatomy of this tissue layer to its prior younger position in order to turn back the clock but maintain your natural appearance. If you are younger and not ready for a facelift fat transfer to this area can help restore volume and soften the appearance of these lines. I hope this helps!!

Face lift will not correct this dynamic asymmetry of your nasolabial folds; treads have no place in this. Selective filler application would be my procedure of choice. In person or teleconference consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon, expert in facial rejuvenation would help. Good luck.

We typically don’t make facial assessments with facial expressions.
Contour changes related to contraction of muscles of facial expression. Generally shouldn’t be treated.
Aesthetic assessments are usually done with a neutral face without expressions.
It’s not clear what your concern is.
I don’t think you need a facelift.
If you’re concerned about your nasolabial fold then careful use of fillers tends to work best.
