Hi. I am scheduled for a mid/lower facelift and neck lift. My surgeon scheduled the surgery for 5:00pm. Is this normal? I live in Rancho Mirage, California. The surgeon has a stellar reputation. I am just surprised at the hour of surgery
Answer: Of course this is not normal. If your surgeon started operating at 6:30 AM, how fresh do you think your surgeon and the team will be at 5 pm. You are having a mid and lower facelift and neck lift. Your surgery may not be completed until 12 midnight. Does that even seem reasonable to you? The only reason surgeons run hours like this is greed. Does your surgeon really have a stellar reputation or have they manipulated their social media by astroturfing? You would not have posted here if you did not have concerns. I strongly suggest you listen to your feelings and put your nikes on and find a surgeon with better hours. Don't drink the koolaid.

Answer: Facelift surgery later in the day Thank you for your question. Your surgeon's reputation is based on surgeries carried out according to their rhythm. Some people prefer to do the surgery very early, some prefer to do the surgeries later in the day. There is no major correlation between the quality of the surgery and the time in the day when it is carried out.

Answer: Surgery start time Thank you for your question. I advise to discuss your concerns and doubts with your surgeon. You should know the length of surgery, what type of anesthesia you are receiving, what kind of surgery setting it is in, and when your surgeon began surgery that day. If you have any doubts you should definitely discuss this with your surgeon prior to your surgery day.

Answer: Surgert Start Time As incredible as this sounds, there are some Surgeons who prefer a much later start. I am not one of them, but there are probably valid reasons for this detail that can only be answered by your Surgeon. For scheduling, staffing, lifestyle, and logistics purposes, I prefer a much earlier AM start time.

Answer: Scheduling of mid/lower facelift Thank you for your query. Most practices schedule general anaesthesia procedures in the morning and procedures done under local anaesthesia or sedation are often done later in the day. This allows enough time for recovery in a daycare settings. The timing of the procedure, besides the type of anaesthesia, depends on the schedule of your surgeon and whether the surgery is in a day-care/office facility or in a hospital setting amongst other considerations . You should discuss your concerns about the timing of your surgery with your surgeon who should be able to address your concerns . All the best!
