How many days does it take to have the drain removed after lipo?

Hi. I guess it all depends on how much you drain. Impersonally have never used drains on liposuction procedures and have never had a seroma. If drains are left in for long periods of time they act as a Indus of infection and must be removed. Good luck. dr PG

Drains are only placed in the large cavity where the fat was removed from very large tummies. Most lipos never need drains and if you do need drains, they are removed by day 2-3.

most of the time liposuction does not required drain placement. best to consult your plastic surgeon in detail and discuss about the  drain placement required or not required.

Best to ask your surgeon or the clinica where you are having your liposuction. In my 'private practice' I rarely ever use drains in liposuction, but over the internet without posted photos very hard to advise. That is why in person interviews and examinations with your chosen surgeon are imperative before any surgical procedure. 

I do not use drains after liposuction. I don't see the need to use them. When drains are placed after liposuction, they may, at times, need to stay in for a substantial amount of time, typically a few days but two weeks is not unheard of. The drains are typically removed when the amount of fluid coming out subsides. This can vary.I would not recommend having surgery with drains placed and then leaving with no postoperative care. Best of luck,Mats Hagstrom, M.D.
