My practice is almost exclusivity devoted to body contouring using liposuction and fat transfer. Liposuction is perhaps one of the easiest cosmetic operations to perform, yet one of the most difficult to perform well. Poor outcomes after liposuction are typically due to uneven fat removal or excessive fat removal. It's often a combination of both.Treatment options for correcting poor outcomes from liposuction basically come down to revision liposuction, fat transfer and, at times, removal of excess skin. The idea behind revision liposuction is to remove fat where there may be excess fat or fat still present and avoid any liposuction in areas that were potentially over-liposuctioned with the goal of generating a smooth contour.Fat transfer is, at times, useful for treating over-liposuctioned areas, though it is limited in many cases. For patients who have skin laxity and/or uneven results after liposuction, tightening or removing skin with poor outcomes may be an option. In your case, you may be a candidate for a combination of revision liposuction with fat transfer. I have a substantial amount of experience in not only performing liposuction but also treating complications from this procedure. From my experience, it is often not possible to obtain perfect outcomes but can be possible to achieve some improvements.Consider getting a second opinion with a plastic surgeon who has true expertise in body contouring with both liposuction and fat transfer. I would not recommend anyone other than someone with great expertise do any potential future surgeries on your legs. Best of luck,Mats Hagstrom, M.D.
