By this time you should be able to stand up a little straighter but it is not uncommon for patients to still feel this way for weeks after abdominoplasties. I would check with your surgeon but I usually have my patients stand next to a wall and "practice" standing up straight. It usually takes a week or two but most of them are standing upright by their next appointment.
Most patients would be advised not to exercise heavily for the first 6 weeks. Each surgeon has their own post operative protocol. If you have any questions about exercise your surgeon is your best resource.
Thanks for your question. I would recommend discussing any postural exercises with your plastic surgeon. In my practice I recommend that my patients do only light activities of daily living and self-care for at least 2-3 weeks after a tummy tuck, then gradually returning to full activities by 6 weeks. Generally they are standing straight again within about a week. Every patient is unique.
Thank you for your question. At 17 days, you should be able to start standing straighter. Speak with your plastic surgeon to discuss any movements he/ she recommends for you at this stage of healing. Best,
At 17 days there are parts of the operation and need to be protected. Any exercises must take this into consideration. I would check with your surgeon's office about what restrictions he has for a given activity.
Thanks for your question about post op exercises from your tummy tuck. At 17 days I would still recommend taking it easy. On the first few days post op I have all my patients walking and we like to tell our patients "rest, not bed rest." For additional exercises please discuss directly with your board certified plastic surgeon. Best to you. -Dr. Coan.
First of all, what ever exercise you do, please clear it with your plastic surgeon. I generally tell my patients that they can attempt to straighten up as comfort dictates, but don't force it. After the first six weeks, I have my patients start to train there abdominal muscles by doing planks, for which I give them an instruction sheet. I find the planks particularly helpful, because the repair of the rectus diastasis often necessitates a complete retraining of the now aligned abdominal muscles.
We appreciate ALL your questions. But you really need to address the post operative protocols with Dr Hochstein, your surgeon, in person! What we recommend can not be construed to be what you should be doing! since we are NOT your treating surgeons. To most of us, responders it appears you had very limited post op instructions and follow up care? Again always best to see your chosen surgeon as much as you desire for all these specific post op care issues. Good Luck and fast recovery..
This is definitely something you should discuss with your plastic surgeon. He/She knows exactly what was done and how you should proceed. I would think that by now you should be walking upright.
Contact your surgeons office, they should be able to tell you what their post operative instructions are. Everyone has a different opinions on this and their reasons for them. Good luck, Dean Vistnes.
That price seems a little low for Canadian standards, since breast augmentation alone is generally $7600 to $8600. If you're getting a mini tummy tuck, the price might be reasonable. However, more importantly, do you trust your surgeon? Do you have confidence that he or she understands your...
Always best to run questions/concerns directly by your plastic surgeon who knows your situation best. Having said that, some drainage from around a drain side entrance into the skin is commonly encountered, especially when patients are more mobile. For example, this may occur when a patient gets...
Given that the skill of the surgeon in the level of care is the same the advantage of out-of-town surgery might be the price. The problem is that postoperative management is done at a distance in may be problematic. Nevertheless, many patients choose to have surgery away from home seeking the...
