How to treat leathery skin on upper lip?

Question

I'm having a hard time getting a good picture, but I am a 34 year old non-smoker but my upper lip looks older than the rest of my face! The skin has a leathery texture and some fine vertical lines. What treatment would be best for this? Laser? Injections? I'd like to research treatments before going to visit a provider. Than you!

Naturally, photos would be helpful in deciding what might be your bes treatment option and you can try reposting your questions with photos.  I think you will get a lot of varied answers.  But bar none, I would bet that a graded croton oil peel (Hetter Peel) would be your best means of achieving a truly excellent result.  Although it's hard to say without photos, it is very likely that you will need your whole face treated to avoid demarcation lines  And I do not believe that fractional lasers will not achieve what you are seeking.

Halloweenminus10.  I appreciate your concern and photos would help, but it sounds like conservative upper lip Rejuvination is your best option.  Fine lines, light wrinkles and skin irregularities of the upper lip can be treated with TCA chemical peel or laser resurfacing. Each has pros and cons, but sounds like your best option.  Lip augmentation with fillers may be icing on the cake! Be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. Good luck!

Thanks for sharing your question. This is a difficult area to treat as any experienced injector will tell you. I usually prefer treating this area with neurotoxin (Botox, Dysport) and filler injectio. My preferred fillers for the upper lip lines are Juvederm Volbella and Restylane Silk. Nonablative and ablative lasers and microneedling can also help. Finally, I recommend that patients use a retinol at home to further stimulate collagen product and improve this area.

These are always a bit hard to treat. I use filler, such as Silk, and Dysport to treat these. More aggressive treatments include Fraxel, Infini, or CO2 laser. Nothing is perfect but expect improvements.
