I usually see that patients have a pink undertone to their skin for about 24 to 48 hours after their microneedling treatment. Make sure the skin stays hydrated to maximize results and expedite the healing process. Using PRP otherwise known as a vampire facial is another option to give your skin the extra boost it needs to feel revitalized.
Following microneeding the skin will appear red and inflamed for about 24-48 hours. This of course depends on the skin tone of the patient as well. Fair skin tones may experience prolonged redness. Another aspect to consider is post-procedural skin dryness and flakiness. For many women, even after the redness resolves there is some flaking of the skin that can persist for up to 7 days. This may make it difficult to apply makeup to conceal if you have an important event coming up. I typically recommend my patients to schedule treatment at least 2 weeks prior to an event. This will allow adequate time for recovery. After the initial treatment I encourage patients to monitor how their skin has healed as each patients recovery timeline can vary slightly.
Some patients are fine within 24 hours of microneedling but for sure after 48 hours. Be sure to have your procedure performed by someone who is a trained and experienced in microneedling. It is also important to follow the post procedure instructions given to you.
Hi, thanks for your question. The amount of redness can vary from person to person, but typically it doesn’t last more than 3-4 days at most. In fact, when we combine microneedling with PRP (platelet rich plasma), we see faster healing times and redness shortens to about 1-2 days.
Thank you for your question! Microneedling is a great solution to even skin tone and improve overall skin texture.Using the CosmoPen, microneedling creates micro-channels in the skin that encourages your body’s natural ability to produce collagen and elastin to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars and hyperpigmentation, soften stretch marks, reduce enlarged pores and even skin tone and promote the production of collagen and elastin. Although microneedling treatments do not require any downtime, redness may appear and can last between 24-48 hours following the treatment. At my practice, I advise my patients not to wear makeup immediately following the treatment to allow the skin to “breathe” and to expedite the healing process. For more information about microneedling treatments, consult with an expert aesthetic provider and view before and after photos to better understand the results that have been previously delivered to patients. Thank you for your time. Dr. Kian Karimi
Redness from microneedling varies greatly. The depth of the microneedling, the number ofpasses and your skin’s reaction will all affect the healing process. You should discuss with your provider what is reasonable for you. Many patients are presentable the next day. Often times PRP is combined with microneedling for maximum benefits.
Hi, Its hard to give you an accurate answer due to the amount of variables within the treatment. Mainly the needle depth and number of passes across an area will determine how long the colour will last. Generally we see our patients redness last up to 24 hours and that's using a 1.0mm needle depth. Hope this helps, All the best.
It is normal to have redness after microneedling for a few days and this is due to inflammation and histamine release. If it doesn't resolve in a few days, please consult your. I find adding PRP decreases redness more quickly and we like to do microneedling with lasers to get better outcomes. Best, Dr. Emer
Thank you for your message! We generally tell our patients to expect about 2-3 days of "downtime" when the skin can be red, peeling, or flaky. This can vary greatly person to person however. You can couple the microneedling treatments with PRP, platelet rich plasma, to help boost results and lessen healing time as well! Make sure you are applying a lot of moisture to the skin to help with healing!
How long the redness will last after microneedling is dependent on several factors. The depth of the needle, the insulation of the needle , the patient's skin type and how many passes were performed. The after care prescribed is also important to the healing process and whether PRP was used or not. On the average most patients will be red for about 1-3 days. Most patients can be "presentable" in public after a few hours or the next day. If you have an important event you should plan about a week of healing time just to be safe.
