Open belly button hole following Tummy tuck, is this normal? (photos)

Question

I had a TT and breast augmentation on April 20, 2015 and am approximately 10 weeks post op. At approximately 4 weeks my surgeon passed away, but he was pleased with my progress. However the hole where my belly button is shows no sign of healing. Maybe I popped something while sneezing??I pack it with a bit of gauze and an earplug to keep it from closing altogether, but i think it should have healed by now.

From the pictures that you provided I don't see an umbilicus. I recommend seeing a new plastic surgeon who can assist you in your healing process. Hi newGG.I am sorry about the tragic news regarding your ps.  I can't really see any umbilicus- is it there?  It should be healed by now for sure.I advise that you call the old doctor's office and get referred to the doctor who is assuming care for his patients.  You should be seen, evaluated, and treated by a ps.  Ultimately, I think you will be fine, but get seen.sek

It is hard to see what is inside that hole.  There can be number of things that can be wrong with you..  You need to be seen by a living plastic surgeon for correct assessment of your situation.

It looks from your photos that you are healing normally. Have you noticed any drainage or odor from the area? The belly button always takes longer to heal than the other incisions. Keeping the area clean by allowing soap and water to run over the area when showering will help progress the healing process. If the area is rubbing or becoming irritated from clothing and the garment you should cover the area with breathable 4x4 gauze to prevent any further irritation. It is not necessary to apply ointment, it is best to keep the area clean and dry.
