Thank you for your question. It is highly recomended for patients to reach a BMI of less than 30, having a higher BMI than 30 can increase the risk during and after surgery. Best is to reach you ideal weight before surgery. That said, we do NOT want any crash diets because we need the body in good shape to heal. Most important is a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon regarding this procedure. Don’t settle for less!
I appreciate your question. For health and safety reasons, best to be at a BMI less than 30 or within 10 pounds of your goal weight and stable at that weight for 6 months prior to surgery for optimal results. The best way to assess and give trueadvice would be an in-person exam. Please see a board-certified plasticsurgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorative plastic surgery.Best of luck!Dr. SchwartzBoardCertified Plastic SurgeonDirector-BeverlyHills Breast and Body Institute#RealSelf100Surgeon
The ideal candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift is in good general health, has an appropriate quantity of unwanted stomach fat, and has realistic expectations of what can be achieved through the procedure. Those potential candidates who are not, generally, living a healthy lifestyle or at a stable weight will see diminished results in comparison to a candidate living a healthy and active lifestyle. There is, also, the risk the results desired are not achieved. This is particularly true of patients with unrealistic expectations. It is also true of patients not already living a healthy lifestyle. The doctor, in such cases, will work with the patient to achieve acceptable results. The worst complications include medical risks such as organ injury, blood clots in legs which travel to the lungs, fat entering the bloodstream and traveling to the lungs, and even death.A BMI of less than 30 is ideal, however discuss with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon if your BMI is 30 to 40 because there could be options for you. -Best Wishes
It is a pleasure to answer your question. You will get a much better result if you can get as close to your ideal weight prior to your cosmetic surgery. Neither procedure should be considered a weight loss tool. Having a high BMI could be risky for you during and after surgery and for this reason I would encourage you to loose some weight before considering getting a surgery done. As physician, my first priority is keeping my patients safe and not perform surgery that could be risky. Hope this helps. Good luck.
BrazilianButt Lift (BBL) is simply the AUGMENTATION (not lifting) of the buttocks withfat after the butt and its surroundings were shaped with Liposuction. The ideais NOT to simply pump fat into a smaller unattractive butt and transform itinto a much larger uglier butt but to create a more harmonious, attractivelooking butt which happens to be larger. What constitutes an attractive butt?I suggest you google theimage BUNDA (Portuguese, spoken in Brazil, for Butt). The ideal, youthful femalebutt IS :- DISTINCT, It has clear borders of where it starts and ends.- HEMISPHERIC, it looks like a full round hemisphere NOT a pear or a blob- has a V ZONE, V shaped depressionwhere the upper butt cheeks diverge (Some have 2 dimples)- has a SHELF or a BACK SCOOP ( medically a lumbar lordosis) in the lower backwith- THREE mild muscle LINES of the lower back created by the ERECTOR SPINAEmusclesSculptingliposuction AROUND the buttocks can create much of this without putting fatinto the buttocks. But, to get fullness and fill the lateral (Trochanteric)depression, some fat is required (i.e. BBL).FAT AS AFILLERUnlike other fillers, fat is quite different. Although it makes the skin appearmuch younger and in some cases radiant due to its content of stem cells it hasseveral considerations. Fat survival in its new location depends on:- how much trauma did the fat suffer in the process of liposuction and transferinto the buttocks? The more trauma, the more cell loss- How fast did the blood supply of the buttocks reach and attach itself to thegrafted fat cells? The longer it takes the fat to be nourished, the more fatcells will die and volume will be lost (This is caused by putting huge amountsof fat into the buttock, greatly increasing the pressure and blocking the bloodsupply. This is seen by putting the fat in in large clumps instead of smalldroplets. By doing so only the surface gets oxygen and the inner fat dies. Thisis caused by people seating on their butts increasing the pressure and shearforces and occluding the blood supply).- Fat is a living ENERGY STORING tissue. If you lose weight, it will graduallyshrink – if you gain weight, it will get much larger. So, if your weight isunstable you must take this into consideration.- Fat HAS WEIGHT. The only way adding fat to the buttocks or breasts wouldmagically lift them would be IF it contained Helium. It does not. The more fatwe add to either the breast or the buttocks, the more weight we add to them andwith time they WILL sag. BBL ANDOBESITYIf you havea BMI of 30 and higher, you are classified as “obese”. At this point, a lot ofcosmetic operations would NOT look as nice on you AND be associated with ahigher rate of complications. YourOptions? Lose weight to enhance your results and your long term health OR findsomeone who will operate on you for PURELY financial gain and deliver amediocre result, at best, which would make SUBSEQUENT surgery on the area muchharder due to scarring.Personally, inmany women with a full buttocks and borderline obesity, I advise weight loss orI would do a BACK SCOOP LIPOSUCTION which enhances the appearance of thealready existing (large) butt and make it fuller appearing. The recovery isquicker and easier than a BBL and you will not have to avoid sitting on yourbutt.Peter Aldea,MDMemphis, TN
Thank you for your inquiry. This is a good question, we recommend not having any jewellery, make-up or acyril nails/nail polish for sanitary reasons and so it doesnt interfere with blood oxygen content sensors. Nails, especially long ones can harbor lots of bacteria and you want to be as sterile ...
Ideally in either surgery you wouldn't want to be lying directly on the operative site. During surgery, one of your surgical sites would be compressed for some period of time in order to do the other. In a perfect world, for optimum results, they would be done separately. That being said, many...
I do not recommend liposuction of your abdomen because your loose skin plus liposuction will lead to a very bumpy, unattractive abdomen.Aesthetic liposuction is a process of removing fat from an area and attempting to remove it in a symmetrical pattern, decreasing the chances of visible rippling...
