Chin lipo: Hoping for fat to be mostly removed. How do I find a doctor suitable for me? (photos)

I was considering chin lipo but after seeing the results (along with many other before & afters that look similar) I’m doubtful. For the cost I’d hope for the fat to be mostly removed. Are my expectations unrealistic? If not how do I find a doctor who can help define my jawline, remove my double chin & potentially jowls too.Most pages I go to don’t have many chin-lipo pictures, so it’s hard to know who will provide results.

Liposuction is intended to remove all fat in a desired area. It can target the area below the chin, around the jawline, neck, and the pre-jowls as well. When selecting a provider, it is important to make sure that they are board certified and specialize in the area you want to target. You want someone who performs chin liposuctions often! With an experienced provider, there is usually a vast difference in before and after photos of chin liposuction that would ensure you that your expectations are realistic.

From the photographs presented come are you appeared to have fat deposits located both above and below the platysma muscle in the neck. Liposuction can only remove fat deposits above the muscle, while a surgical neck lift is required to remove the fat deposits below the platysma muscle which also includes a platysma-plasty.  The platysma-plasty significantly improves the jawline.

In cosmetic surgery there are no generally only two variables when it comes to impressive or quality outcomes.
These are patient candidacies and skills of the doctor.
Some people are ideal candidate for certain procedures and when that’s the case they have the potential for having a great outcome. These individuals will have high-quality results if the procedure is done biase efficiently talented and experienced provider but if done by someone lacking skill their results can still turn out poor despite being a good candidate. People who are not good candidates are not gonna have a good outcome regardless of who does the procedure.
Candidacy for procedures comes down to making assessments or in other words making a diagnosis.
If excessive amounts of subcutaneous fat is the only problem then liposuction is the ideal solution.
There are lots of patients we see regularly who have abnormal fat distributions that are unbecoming and unattractive and removing fat in these individuals done correctly leads to stunning results.
The first question a patient should ask themselves is what is the underlying cause or reason for their wanting to have something changed.
When it comes to facial aesthetics each individual persons unique look an appearance whether it’s attractive or not, masculine or feminine is almost exclusively determined by bone structure. with the exception of facial aging soft tissues are typically very predictable and consistent among individuals. obviously those who are overweight will have more subcutaneous fat on their bodies and in their face but other than that soft tissues tend to be very consistent.
In your case the reason for your seeking Liposuction is because your mandible is small and lacks projection in comparison to your maxilla. that causes the underlying platysma muscle to drape the neck in the more oblique fashion.
By the way everybody gets a double chin when they flex their neck.
The amount of subcutaneous fat on your face and neck is not particularly thick and is not the underlying problem for lack of jawline definition premature jowls and double chin if you call it that.
Augmenting the chin with a chin implant or sliding genioplasty will give a forward projection to the tip of the mandible but doesn’t change the mandible itself or how the platysma muscle comes after mandible to drape the neck.
Procedures that do not treat the primary underlying problem will only give partial improvement at best. This is why some liposuction results of the chin and neck don’t give that much improvement. this is especially chew for older individuals and individuals with less subcutaneous fat.
That said, young people and especially young people with thick layers of fat can get impressive results with this procedure even though most of them would look much better with jaw advancement surgery.
Jaw advancement simply isn’t something most people want to undergo.
Individuals with an undersized mandible tend to have the following things in common. An overbite dental occlusion, and upper lip that has more forward projection than the lower lip, a premature double chin, lack of jawline definition and premature jowl formation.
To make facial assessments we need full face pictures taken at straight angles showing a complete frontal and profile picture without facial expression. to assess the jawline and neck we need to see the relationship between the Maxilla and the Mandible and the Maxilla goes all the way up to the eyesockets.
Forgetting assessments regarding skeletal structure you can consult with oral surgeons. Four general facial aesthetic assessments and a better understanding of different potential treatment options I suggest having a few in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons.
In my opinion delivering consistent quality liposuction results is more difficult than most people believe.
Results are permanent and irreversible.
For that reason patients should do their due diligence and properly vet a significant number of plastic surgeons to find the most talented and experienced one for the procedure during interested in before committing to having any surgical procedure.
