Male BBL - it looks boxy, is this bad result and why? (Photos)

Question

So I had a tummy tuck… I wanted to correct my appearance from back so I decided for male bbl. I went back and fourth between lipo 360 w or without the bbl and I figured what could go wrong. After swelling went down the sides begin to look weird( one did right after procedure). Now I feel like I really don’t like one side on particular( other one isn’t great either). It feels like it sticks out from the front also, just looks reallly awful from the front and boxy/weird

Allow me to answer your question as best i can based upon your photos. However, please keep in mind that an in-person, or at least a virtual, consultation with physical exam is first necessary before any legitimate evaluation or final surgical recommendations can be made.

You are in good company with many others who had high hopes for BBL but instead received disappointing results (lumpiness, unevenness, lack of projection in the central and/or lower buttock, insignificant hip augmentation, post-deflation sagging, fatty necrotic cyst or scar tissue, etc.) as most of the fat melts away. It is not quite as much the quality of the doctor nor liposuction technique but rather the quality of the procedure that is a large part of the problem (although it appears as though you need some additional liposuction of your right love handle to significantly improve symmetry).  Thus, going back for additional rounds of BBL most often produces the same disappointing results but at another financial loss.   Beware, if a surgeon asks you to purposely gain weight (i.e. fat) before BBL, know that the fat you lose first as you get back to your baseline weight after surgery is that very same fat that was transferred into your buttock, hence your new buttock shrinks first, the fastest, and the most...so please do not fall victim to this recommendation.

Fillers, such as Sculptra and hyaluronic acids,  for augmentation of the buttock/hips are a rip-off, period!

Buttock/hip implants, however, provide a more reliable, predictable, relatively safe, and permanent result, especially for adding projection to the hips and central buttock, and often help smoothing out lumpiness. Occasionally a lower buttock tuck may be advantageous for lower buttock fold asymmetries and/or sagging.  When considering buttock implants make sure that the surgeon is going to be placing the implants within gluteus muscles , (a.k.a. “intramuscular pocket”), and that they are using anatomically correct, oval-shaped implants, such as Stanton Anatomic ®️ implants. 
Please keep in mind that an extremely few number of board-certified plastic surgeons specialize in these buttock implants so be sure to consult with one that is reputable and experienced. Unfortunately you may have to travel long and far away from home to find this particular surgeon. Glad to help.

Is difficult to know what your request was from the surgeon as I find in my practice some men want more of a feminine look and others don't. Either way, I think there is some extra fullness around your waist seen in the front photo and this can be addressed with liposuction to produce a more pleasing continuous shape. From the back photograph it appears you may have had some volume loss (transferred fat) in the "hip dip" area. Either way, I think you are too full above that area of the hip dip and you can liposuction that fat as well as some additional fat and graft the hip dip area once again. Leaving the upper buttock too full can give a boxy appearance without a pleasing curve. This all depends on how long it has been since you prior procedure as it is best to wait 6 months or so for all areas to soften and become more pliable and mobile. Good luck.

To make an accurate assessment regarding the outcome of any plastic surgery procedure we generally need to see a complete set of proper before and after picture.
Generally speaking, there are only two variables that determine plastic surgery outcomes spread.
The first is patient candidacy, and the second is provider selection.
There are, of course, other variables, but almost all issues related to quality outcomeversus those who have concerns can be broken down into an issue related to candidacy or technical error.
Of course, in the field of aesthetics, there is some inherent subjectivity.
Delivering consistent quality, Liposuction results is more difficult than most people realize.
The same is also for fat transfer.
The number of providers have truly mastered. These procedures is pretty small.
I usually recommend people have multiple in person, consultations before considering selecting a provider for Liposuction and effect transfer.
During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before, and after pictures of previous patient who had similar body characteristics to your own. The approach to male surgery for this procedure is very different than for women unless the goal is feminization. 
The best way to have a good understanding of what your result is likely to look like this to see lot of it before and after pictures of previous patients who look just like you in the before pictures. The percentage of men seeking this procedure is pretty small. I typically do a BBL about once a week and have for the last 10 years.
I think the total number of male BBL patients have cheated is five. And then all the emphasis is usually unposted production not filling the hips at all.
It’s also very important to properly Liposuction, the lower waist and love handles, avoiding bringing in the waste and a feminized away, but rather leaving the torso looking like a wedge. Individual also have skin laxity, which I’m guessing is your case is going to have limited Liposuction results of the love handles because that area is very sensitive to bulging with even mild skin laxity.
For men, who’ve had significant weight loss, a more extended or wraparound type tummy tuck is sometimes preferred.
If you want equality assessment, you need to include quality pictures, and these always means before and after pictures.
If you don’t have a proper before, and after pictures, then ask your surgeon to forward the pictures they took.
It’s also important that you point out exactly what you don’t like and what you prefer to be changed.
If the outcome bothers you enough that you willing to have revision surgery and don’t have sufficient faith in your provider, then schedule multiple in person, consultations with other plastic surgeons in your community who seem to have a strong track record with the BBL procedure with proven male BBL outcomes.
For a second opinion, consultations come prepared to bring with you a complete set of proper before and after pictures and preferably a copy of your operative report. These are all part of your medical record that you can request from your current provider.
You can and should of course, talk to your current provider about your outcome.
While the result is not overly impressive. It also does not look terrible.
Without knowing what you look like before we have no idea what the actual change of the procedure was.
Without before and after pictures, we can’t begin to contemplate the Delta.
