How do you measure the hairline height to create a hairline in a hair transplant?

So, an average non balding hairline is meant to be 5-6cm, but nowhere actually explains where to measure to? I measure from my hairline and to what point? The top of the eyebrows? Bottom of them? Middle of the eyes?

There is no absolute measurement of hair line.  There is no "firm" numbers.  It is more about ratios and proportions when it comes to facial aesthetics and hair line position.  This is the "art" behind cosmetic surgery.Some doctors use the fibonacci ratio, rule of thirds, or the number phi in the golden ratio.Some doctors just "eye ball" it.Some doctors may put four fingers from brow to hair line.Some doctors us a template.You'd be surprised at all the different ways doctors do things.

The best position of a hairline to cease the best looking face has to do with several factors and it is not only a fix distance from your eyebrows.  A hair transplant surgeon should consider the vertical proportions of the face in designing the hairline, but other important factors that should be considered area:  Future pattern and stage of baldness, the amount of permanent hair on the donor area and whether or not it is sufficient to maintain a full head of hair with potential transplants in the future and ethnic characteristics.

Where to place the hair line varies by patient.  You need to look at the degree of hair loss, the availability of donor hair and the goals of the patient.  The idea is create a hair line that will not only look good now but also in the future as you still may continue to lose hair.  By putting the hair line too low you can end up with an island of hair if your hair loss progresses.  The only way to tell where to place a hair line is by physical exam. We measure hairlines from the green line up. This is a line joining the eyebrows. There is quite a bit of variation in what is considered "normal" but 5-7 cm is typical. When a hair transplant is done, the position of the hairline is usually placed at a distance between 7 and 12 cm. A number of factors influence where a hairline is placed including the shape of the head, the shape of the face, the amount of balding, the type of hair and the ethnic background of the patient.

There are many factors that should be considered during the design of the hair line.the doctor should be familiar with all the anatomical points of  the face and scalp such as front temporal triangle, mid front point, mid glabellar point, mid pupillary point, nasal spine, lateral hump and so on. There are many factors to consider when designing a hairline for hair transplantation on a balding man. The ideal, youthful hairline you showed is rarely the goal of hair surgery unless there is no balding and just a high hereditary hairline. I make my base measurement of the midpoint of the hairline from a point on a line across the mid brows above the nose. That line would be slightly below your green line.
