After applying pressure to glabella (Dysport treated), why does glabella get a muscle spasm and temporarily swell and turn pink?

After applying pressure to glabella, glabella area has an involuntary muscle contraction, gets unevenly puffy, and turns pink. It only lasts for a few seconds, doesn’t hurt, and doesn’t bother me. The 60 units in 11’s look like enough. This happened both times I’ve gotten Dysport (at 2 different offices). The 1st time I got Dysport, it started around month 2. The 2nd time, I noticed it starting shortly after getting it. I think it gets LESS pronounced the more the Dysport wears off. What’s going on?

Thank you for your question. Dysport results fully take into effect 7 - 14 days after injection. In the next few days, it should settle and you should be able to see an improvement of your results.

Dysport should not stop working as you cannot develop a tolerance to the drug. Maybe the mix was too dilute and that is why the units did not take. Ask your provider. Hope this helps. JB

Dysport results typically diminish at 3-4 months.  However, because you received a low dose (1 unit in each area), it is possible that your results may wear off sooner.  Be patient!Best Wishes,

The amount of units used depends on how strong and how much muscle action is present. A good rule of thumb when deciding on Botox vs. Dysport is with Dysport the units should double, but the price per unit should be much less. If I use 30 units of Botox, I would use 60 units of Dysport in the...

Thank you for your question.  Typically after Dysport is injected into the muscle, those muscles are relaxed for up to 12 to 16 weeks or even longer (3-4 months).  To maintain your results, Dysport treatments are needed every 3-4 months, depending on how your body metabolizes the product.
