I’m 3 months post op and now I have these folds/creases above and below my belly button. What is this? I told my surgeon I’d do any procedure to get a flat stomach and he recommended lipo360. Will this resolve or would I need to start planning for a revision? *Second photo is before picture.
Answer: Liposuction results Dear lindsey0112, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Tummy tuck It is not possible to determined you treatment options with one side photo and no examination. If you lift your skin up toward your breasts does the fold go away? If so then a tummy tuck is needed. I would recommend a second opinion.

Answer: Liposuction concerns Your picture is an adequate to make a proper assessment. To make an assessment we need to see proper before and after pictures. If you don’t have before and after pictures and ask your surgeon to forward the ones they took. Delivering consistent quality liposuction results is more difficult than most people believe. The importance of choosing the most talented and experienced surgeons for this procedure is important to obtain consistent high patient satisfaction. Liposuction revisions for poor outcomes is far more difficult than primary Liposuction. One possible explanation for your concern is if your surgeon attempted to do etching or high definition liposuction. Hi definition Liposuction is it technique I personally do not favor. It is used to emphasize over treating muscle intersection lines leaving fat to imitate bulging muscles. typically attempts at high definition liposuction can look unnatural and results from that type of procedure can be very difficult or not possible to correct. Without seeing before and after pictures it’s hard to make any assessment. Your picture doesn’t show any evidence of improper contour. Based on your picture it looks like you have muscle separation from previous pregnancies with moderate skin laxity. The quality of Liposuction results is in part based on each individual patient’s candidacy for the procedure. Muscle separation and skin laxity are best treated with a full tummy tuck and not Liposuction. Follow up with your provider. If you want a proper second opinion consultation then schedule those as in person consultations coming prepared with proper before and after pictures and a copy of your operative report. These are all part of your medical records and available if you ask your surgeons office to forward them. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
