Revision for full, uneven, lumpy arm lift? (photo)

Hi, thank you for your request regarding the revision of the full, uneven, or lumpy arm lift, also known as brachioplasty. Thank you for your history and your pictures. Regarding your arms, if you would like further action taken, it would require a revision. You must discuss the specific areas that bother you. If the bulkiness of the arm bothers you, you need more fat removed. The best results can be achieved with liposuction. If you want the arm band reduced in the center of the arm, you need a debulking procedure. Arm debulking can be achieved with arm liposuction. If you are unhappy with the arm lift scar, the brachioplasty scar should be revised. Most plastic surgeons would suggest you need aggressive arm liposuction in the biceps region, around the arm band, and on the lateral portion of your arm. The triceps region of the arm appears to be within normal limits. Aggressive arm liposuction should also be performed around your prior arm scar. Once you have healed from the arm liposuction, typically 6 to 8 weeks then you should consider arm lift scar revision. The entire arm lift scar should be revised. Both the arm liposuction and the arm lift scar revision procedures can be performed under twilight or local anesthesia. Both procedures are performed on an outpatient basis, allowing you to go home the same day. Most plastic surgeons would not recommend combining these procedures because they involve performing both scar revision and liposuction simultaneously. The liposuction could jeopardize the vascular supply to the scar and lead to wound breakdown. Therefore, it is better to stage the arm liposuction and the arm lift scar revision procedures. Since these areas bother you so much, I would suggest revision surgery. Good luck. A revision of your arm lift is possible. Arm lifts are typically performed by liposuction of the arm to decrease the volume of the arm, followed by resecting the redundant skin. If no prior liposuction was done on your arms, liposuction could be done to reduce the volume of your arm, and then a revision of your present scar should be able to be accomplished. The creases in your arm would likely still be present to some degree.

Yes, you are a candidate for a revision. A revision would require liposuction with excision of excess skin as well.

I’m sorry to hear about your journey. Thank you for your photographs. Every Plastic Surgeon is different. I typically perform liposuction when I perform an arm lift. In my opinion, it helps with contouring and bulking the arm, so that a bit more skin can be removed. Despite the body being notorious for not producing fines, healed incisions like on the face, I pride myself in producing the best incisions possible.

If you want improvement of your arms, I would liposuction your arms and repeat the removal of any excess skin, and possibly use a bit of radiofrequency to help tighten the skin. Additionally, we would improve the quality of your incision and the placement.

There is no doubt that you will need revision at some point; that should include both, more aggressive liposuction with a small cannula and re-excision of skin, scar. You seem to be prone to hypertrophic scars? Long term application of scar tapes and compressive sleeves may help. Good luck.

I would suggest first doing some liposuction to help smooth out the fuller areas, then, once healed, consider a scar revision and release the band. After the revision, start micro-needling about 4 weeks later to help improve the scar.

From the submitted photos it does appear you are a candidate for a revision. This should improve the overall shape of the arm as well as revise the scar. I'm sorry you feel dismissed by your surgeon. Perhaps visit with another board certified plastic surgeon near you for an evaluation.

Based on your series of nicely post to photos, unfortunately the surgeon might not been experienced and break your plasty surgeries to give results like that.
