Hi doctors Im a mom in my mid-30s seeking advice on upper arm contouring. I developed PAH (paradoxical adipose hyperplasia) after a non-invasive procedure, which left me with a persistent bulge and sagging in my upper arms that hasnt responded to weight loss or exercise. I have two small children, including a 1.5-year-old, so extended downtime (more than 2 weeks) is really challenging right now. That said, Im feeling impatient and eager to address the issue. Would liposuction with skin tightening (like Renuvion or BodyTite) be enough to achieve good results, or do I need a full or extended brachioplasty? Is there a mini arm lift option that could work for my situation? Im also planning a mommy makeover, and most surgeons have recommended splitting the proceduresunderstandablybut thats tough to manage with little ones at home. Any guidance would be appreciated, especially around: -Whether I can avoid a full arm lift -If combining procedures safely is an option -Realistic downtime expectations for different approaches Thank you so much in advance! Height: 5'1 Weight: 124
Hello, I had my arm lift done in April of 2024. As of right now, Im incredibly displeased with my results and find myself in tears over it quite often. Initially, I believed that lipo would be done with the arm lift, but it wasnt. Is it typical for arm lifts to be done without lipo? My arms are full, uneven, lumpy, and have even more pronounced banding than before the surgery. My surgeon and I discussed this and I knew that there was a potential of still having mild creasing after. They look to be almost the same size as prior to surgery. On top of this, my scarring is awful- which I understand isnt the surgeons fault, but its frustrating nonetheless. Now I feel just as insecure as before I got the surgery. To be clear, this isnt because of the scarring but because of my arms in general. I dont mind scars. Ive followed up with my surgeon several times through email, telephone and in person. Every time Ive brought it up, Ive been dismissed and interrupted. Ive been told theres nothing she can do other than a small scar revision of 2-3 inches on one arm. Is a revision suggested for this? Thoughts?
I'm turning 40 this year and have lost 170lbs after RNY 8 years ago and maintained the loss. I had an ETT 3 years ago and am looking to have a few procedures done this year. The surgeon I saw a month back said he coule combine an extended arm lift (to remove side breast skin), a revision to FDL, and a thigh lift in one go. He said it would be a rough recovery but doable and would take 6 hours. My ETT took 6 hours alone. I don't have an apron belly, I mainly wanted to torso skin addressed so maybe that part isn't as big as it sounds, like a typical full FDL if that makes sense? I have a good deal of bicep and thigh skin as ny starting weight was 393 and I am 230 as of now, 5'10. I keep wondering if I should tell him I'd rather break it up and maybe do like, the FDL and arms, then a few months later do the thighs and maybe the bra line since I'd be booking a second surgery? Or should I run for the hills? Is this a red flag? Just curious! Thank you so, so much in advance, any advice is greatly appreciated!
I had an arm lift 9 months ago and feel that too much loose skin remains. My surgeon agrees more skin could come off and has offered to do a revision. Im struggling to weigh the pros and cons and come to a decision on how to proceed. I'm really unhappy with the amount of loose skin that remains, but since the surgery, I have no feeling in the backside of my upper left arm. Massage, lymphatic drainage and acupuncture have not helped. I'm worried a revision will bring about further nerve damage to this arm or to the right arm (which is currently fine). My incisions have healed up nicely so Im also reluctant to touch those a second time.
I had arm Lipo with Renuvion in November 2023. I am very happy with the results except for this small area of loose skin where my upper arm meets my armpit. Would I be a candidate for a mini arm lift or is there another procedure to remove this small portion of loose skin? It is there when I raise my arms above my head, and the attached pictures are of me flexing and not flexing.
I posted a question about my arms previously but inadvertently left out what may be important information. I have lost a considerable amount of weight over the past 3 years. Approx a year and a half ago, prior to weight loss, I had lipo on my upper arms. Now my skin is saggy and lumpy/rippling. Is there a treatment that could improve the appearance of my arms, I can almost deal with the sag but the rippling really bothers me
Hello - thinking of getting an arm lift. The surgeon I am leaning towards uses drains, which I am cool with b/c I think it will help reduce swelling and tension on the scar. Is compression still necessary? I had a thigh lift 4 years ago and my surgeon said he doesn't find it makes a difference in recovery. I would LOVE to not wear compression. To me it is always painful and very uncomfortable. How critical is this towards recovery?
Hello, Hypothetically speaking, what happens if you have larger arms and have lipo and skin removal to the upper arm which then becomes smaller than your forearm? Would a plastic surgeon realize this could be a possibility as theyre performing lipo & brachioplasty to your arms or would it be a surprise once Im healed and notice my forearm circumference is larger than my upper arms? Would I need to then come back for forearm lipo and lift? Ive read on this website that forearms are not a popular body region for lifts/lipo. What can be done for the forearms?
I have stretch marks all over my upper arms from weight gain. I've noticed that if I pull on the skin that they become less noticeable. I'm open to getting a mini arm lift but not a full one. Is a mini arm lift enough to reduce the appearance of my stretch marks?
