I am scheduled for Breast Reduction Surgery Feb 26th and I just received results of blood work. All results were in the normal range however sodium level is 136 mmol/ L which is on the lower side of normal. My BMI is 26. Should I be concerned about hyponatremia?
Answer: Surgery You should be fine but take more salt in your diet. Sea salt is best over table salt because you get many more minerals. Also, drink more water for you may be somewhat dehydrated.

Answer: Breast reduction Your surgeon will go over your lab tests. Slightly low sodium should not be a big deal. If your surgeon is concerned ( which I doubt) you could get the a repeat blood test. In our office we don’t even check electrolytes unless someone is on certain medications

It is nowhere near the level at which would be medically concerning and unless you're drinking an unhealthy amount of water or getting IV solutions that would lower it further, there is unlikely to be any significant effects.
