What happens if my nose tip cartilage gets pressed down too much 3 years after rhinoplasty?

Hi there! If your nasal tip receives trauma, regardless of what is placed to hold the tip in position (i.e. GoreTex vs cartilage), there is a chance of instability and drooping over time. If the tip is hard, it may mean there is strong support and the likelihood is lower. GoreTex can change over time and an evaluation by a facial plastic surgeon is recommended to ensure nothing is displaced. If there is concern for damage, then a revision rhinoplasty which focuses on tip support may be recommended.

Following a rhinoplasty, the nasal bones / cartilages are not as strong as before surgery. While an injury is sometimes unavoidable, it may be wise to avoid situations where nasal trauma is a possibility. In addition, Goretex (a foreign body) may become infected if traumatized and may require removal.
