Is it safe to perform autologous fat grafting over breast implants? (Photos)

grafting to obtain the best results. The fat is placed in areas to fill
and help reshape the chest or breast that is cannot be treated by an
implant, or the patient prefers correction with fat. These may include:
Chest contour problems such as pectus excavatum (sunken chest) or pectus carinatum (pigeon chest). Problems of implants including: rippling, visible edges, asymmetriesBreast lift or reduction that need more upper chest fullness.Breast lift that needs more volume

Fat transfer on top of implants is reasonable.  I try to avoid performing the surgery more than once, and the average patient achieves about 3/4 cup increase in size.  If a second procedure is indicated, you can usually tell by 6 weeks.  Depending upon healing characteristics, it may be reasonable to perform the second surgery at 3 months.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Data from our plastic surgery society, supports the use of fat grafting to the breast. Fat grafting to the breast helps add volume and smooth the overall breast contour by adding volume where deficient.  Fat grafting, like all procedures, has some risks like resorption, lumpiness, asymmetry, etc. and this discussed in greater detail at consultation.
