I've been getting my tear troughs filled with restylane for years, but now that I moved, I need a new dermatologist in New York. I believe my doctor just used plain old restylane, but I've been reading up a lot on defyne and refyne. As I have quite a bit of concavity, do you think Restylane defyne would be a good choice for something long-lasting in my tear troughs?
Answer: Belotero Balance & Teosyal Redensity II Are Good Choices For Under Eye Tear Troughs, Hollows, & Dark Circles I have been injecting the tear trough regions for over three decades, since the early days with the use of the original Zyderm I collagen filler. Frankly, would not opt for either Defyne or Refyne for use directly under the eyes. Each is intended for moderately severe wrinkles and folds, such as smile lines and marionette lines. Even plain Restylane is best injected diluted for use in this region, which is why many experienced injectors have switched to Restylane Silk. . In my Upper East Side Manhattan practice I prefer Belotero Balance for this purpose, since it possesses little to no tendency to give rise to the unwanted, bluish Tyndall Effect when it is injected superficially into the delicate tissues of this region. In my Israel satellite facility, where a far greater number of regulatory agency approved fillers are available, I typically choose Teosyal Redensity II. Since fillers are subjected to little direct mechanical pressure (since the skin in this region is naturally so thin and distensible), most fillers can last an extremely long time when injected properly into this area. Results in my experience may last from about two years to as many as five plus. Look for a board certified aesthetic physician and make sure to ask to see his/her before and after photos before agreeing to proceed. Best of luck and welcome to the Big Apple.

Answer: Tear Trough Hi @Canadian_NewYorker! Restylane and Belotero both work great for the tear trough area! I recommend seeking treatments from expert injectors who have the skill and experience to precisely inject fillers into treatment areas and avoid risks and complications. Best of luck, Dr. Nima!

Answer: Tear trough Restylane is probably considered to be the gold standard treatment option for the tear troughs, but Refyne or Defyne is probably a reasonable option as well. Good luck!

Answer: Restylane... Thanks for this question. Restylane is a top choice for the tear trough. However, Refyne and Defyne will work. I don't believe there's any advantage in term of lasting results for the newer fillers. They all last about the same.Best wishes, Dr. ALDO

Answer: These products are much more expensive than Restylane. I personally do not think they are worth the money. Also they have a bit of the smooth filler characteristic, meaning they do not hold as precisely in the tissue as Restylane. I think this is just an effort by the manufacture to boost their bottom line. There is a lot of hype on this filler. Don't get taken in. For the under eye circle, Restylane is still king in my opinion. Belotero is a "smooth" filler and too runny for the under eye area. Finding the right injector in New York City can be challenging. I know because I see many New Yorker's who fly to see me in Beverly Hills for their under eye service.
