I've been getting my tear troughs filled with restylane for years, but now that I moved, I need a new dermatologist in New York. I believe my doctor just used plain old restylane, but I've been reading up a lot on defyne and refyne. As I have quite a bit of concavity, do you think Restylane defyne would be a good choice for something long-lasting in my tear troughs?

Answer: Restylane... Thanks for this question. Restylane is a top choice for the tear trough. However, Refyne and Defyne will work. I don't believe there's any advantage in term of lasting results for the newer fillers. They all last about the same.Best wishes, Dr. ALDO

Answer: These products are much more expensive than Restylane. I personally do not think they are worth the money. Also they have a bit of the smooth filler characteristic, meaning they do not hold as precisely in the tissue as Restylane. I think this is just an effort by the manufacture to boost their bottom line. There is a lot of hype on this filler. Don't get taken in. For the under eye circle, Restylane is still king in my opinion. Belotero is a "smooth" filler and too runny for the under eye area. Finding the right injector in New York City can be challenging. I know because I see many New Yorker's who fly to see me in Beverly Hills for their under eye service.
