Visible Restylane (looks white) under eye 17 days after injection, advice?

Question

I has restylane injected in my tear troughs 17 days ago. I har minimal swelling and brusing and it looked great at first (my other eye looks good). However, after a couple of days I noticed that I had a bump of so sort under my left eye. I went back and was told I should wait until my follow-up session which is two days from now. The bump is not as visible as before, however in certain lights I can see the filler. It looks white and makes the area appear bumpy and uneven. It has no blue tint.

Hi @anla90.  Hyaluronic acid facial filler products that were previously injected into an improper tissue plane can be dissolved by hyaluronidase injections. Best of luck, Dr. Nima!

In many cases, the product can be directly adjusted by manipulation.  This is effective up to about 2-3 weeks.  After that a tiny amount of hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks down Restylane, can be injected to erase these type of problems.  If the doctor doing your service can't see your issue, you are in the wrong office.  Don't wait for these to resolve.  They can persist.  Just get it adjusted.

If you're unhappy with your final results, you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. I recommend injections with cannulas to limit complications. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

I recommend to see your injector for further assessment. in most cases the swelling should resolve within two weeks post injection. They might need to consider hyaluronidase in order to dissolve some of the filler. In general, it's difficult to make an recommendation without seeing and examining the patient.

Thank you for your question.  It's difficult to make exact recommendations without assessing you in-person, or at least reviewing your photos.  I would recommend that you keep your follow-up appointment with your doctor in two days to discuss your concerns.  Your doctor may be able to gently massage the filler to better blend it into your skin.  If that does not work, the lump can be dissolved using hyaluronidase.  Best of luck!
