I'm interested in purchasing a Groupon for Restylane for $300 (Atlanta area). The injections are done by the physician and the place has great reviews. I'm curious about it being so cheap when most places charge twice that? Thank you for your advice!
Answer: Be wary of "too good to be true" offers. You are right to question the safety and authenticity of this deal, as you really do get what you pay for when it comes to injectable fillers and other similar treatments. Brand names like Restylane® have been approved by the FDA for specific uses, so using an unknown injectable may not be safe or effective. I would say that if you're questioning this deal, it's probably not worth the risk. Better to pay a little more and know that you're getting a high-quality product administered by an experienced cosmetic surgeon.

Answer: Generic Restylane? Hello! No, there is no such thing as a generic filler. There have been quite a few companies that have tried to sell fillers produced outside the US and the FDA has cracked down on that practice. It is possible the cost reflects someone new trying to gain experience, even if they make no money, or someone who does so few injections they are desperate for business. Either way, it is not a good sign when you see a groupon for such a service. You get what you pay for. good luck!

Answer: Restylane and Cost--see a Doctor for a formal evaluation There isn't a generic form of Restylane available in the United States. Prices can be variable due to skill, technique, expertise, and amount of filler used for desired results. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist to go over desired results. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Are there generic brands of Restylane? Restylane used in the United States should only be purchased from the company that manufactures it. There are no generic brands that would be legal in the U.S. There are different types of Restylane though and different sizes. You should check to see which type of Restylane is being offered and the size of the syringe.
