I am 5'2, 119lbs, and my BWD is 11.2cm. I want to get Natrelle inspira soft low plus implants, but their diameter is 12cm. I'm concerned that getting implants with a wider diameter than my actual breasts will make me look wide and matronly. I used the Vectra 3D imaging to compare low plus and moderate implants, but I wasn't really able to tell them apart. Most people I spoke to said their augmentation didn't look like what they saw on their Vectra. Should I use a moderate profile instead?
Answer: Implant diameter I agree with your concern that an implant wider than your breast diameter will be a problem. The implant's diameter should not exceed your breast diameter. Vectra 3D imaging helps but should not by itself be used for implant selection. Trying on sample implants of various projections and volumes would be more helpful in your case. Based on what your desired volume is, it seems that you will need at least moderate profile, and possibly even full-profile, implants (hard to say without an in-person examination). Also, based on your anatomic characteristics I see in your photograph, you may be a better candidate for the cohesive style implant rather than the soft-touch.

Answer: Hard to say- you'd need a consult | Breast Implants | Augmentation | Lift | Fat Grafting | Aesthetic Plastic Surgery | Expert Hello and thank you for your question. Honestly, a formal in-person evaluation would be needed to determine the best treatment. There are several reasons for this: 1) Bra sizes vary based on the clothing store (for example, Victoria's Secret tends to upsize everyone by a whole cup size) 2) Most women do not wear the proper exact fitting bra size for their bodies 3) The exact volume (in cc) needed to change cup size is different for different body types (e.g. 32A to 32D requires a different implant size than 38A to 38D) 4) Be careful NOT to fall into the trap most women do- they see a certain implant size (e.g. 285 cc) or perhaps their friend had a certain size, and they want or request this or another size based on that. Everyone's body is different- 285 cc implants on your friend might look VERY different than they would on you. Be very careful not to make this mistake, because the goal is to find the right size and shape for YOU- for your particular body and your breasts. Because of those multiple factors, and because it is KEY to fully evaluate your breasts in person to make a full set of precise measurements to select the proper implant for you (incorporating factors like amount of breast tissue, implant type, base width, projection, etc), answering your question really would need a formal personalized consultation- to say anything before that would simply be guessing, which would be both unfair and unhelpful to you. Also, just FYI, each surgeon's measurements are slightly different, so numbers, experience, and overall aesthetic from one surgeon aren't necessarily the same as those from another surgeon! Your breasts are such a KEY area of your body and your femininity- therefore, you should ONLY trust an experienced aesthetic plastic surgeon. As such an expert, I have had extensive training and experience with complex aesthetic surgeries under a multiple world-renowned experts in the field. I’d recommend for you to setup a formal consultation with me (or another plastic surgeon who is extremely comfortable with aesthetic plastic surgery procedures) for a formal consultation to thoroughly discuss your surgical goals, undergo a formal examination, evaluate all your options (surgical and nonsurgical), and decide on the best procedure(s) and type of anesthesia for your specific case. I hope this helps! Dr. Donald Groves Aesthetic Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Is just too wide? Is just too wide?Online, it is not possible to actually give a recommendation about a particular with an implant. However, my best guess is the 12 cm breast implant will actually not be too wide for your frame. However I still recommend that you see at least one more plastic surgeon and get a second opinion about which is the best recommendation for you!Best wishes on your upcoming surgery! Dr. Aldo

Answer: Implants should not be wider than the breasts If your base diameter is 11.2 and you use implants that are wider, the pocket for the implants will have to go beyond the natural boundaries of the breast. This can lead to problems such as thinning, rippling, and bottoming out. Go with the moderate profile implant. You are correct BTW that the VECTRA system is helpful but not 100% accurate, so we use that in addition to trying samples in a bra of the desired cup size.

Answer: Would 12cm diameter Natrelle Inspira Soft, low plus, 250cc, be too wide? My BWD is 11.2. It's true that vectra representations don't really show what the final result will actually look like. 12cm implants for an 11.2cm base width is right on the line of what will still look natural. You may have a few millimetres of implant protruding towards the armpit, however this is a curve that a lot of women are asking for. I'd suggest booking an appointment with your surgeon to discuss your concerns and come up with a plan based on their in-person assessment of your body. Hope that helps!
