Hi I had a unilateral capsulectomy on my right side after having bad capsule contracture on this side. I am now 5 days post op. Realise its early days! But the right side is now much lower and more saggy and nipple sits much lower. I'm worried this is on Going to get worse in time as the implants 'drops'. They are silicone under muscle and left one has been in 3 years. Any advice?

Thank you for the picture. You do have some mild symmetry. Only time will tell the final position of your breast. Right now there's nothing to do but allow complete healing and reevaluate it's three months.

I am sorry to hear about the concerns you have after revisionary breast surgery. As you state, it is too early to evaluate the outcome of the procedure performed; some changes are predictable over the course of the next several months. Unfortunately, it is not possible to predict with any degree of certainty, exactly what those changes will be and whether or not you will be pleased with the breast symmetry or implants' positions. I would suggest that you continue to follow-up with your plastic surgeon who will always be your best resource when it comes to evaluation  and recommendations. Best wishes for an outcome that you will be pleased with long-term.

At this point, you have to give it time to heal.  You might very well need a revision down the road. But give it time heal and follow closely with your surgeon.

Your right side is healing, and it has a long way to go. After the capsule, which is scar tissue, is removed, the raw surface that's left will form a new scar. It takes a while for the scar to form and mature. As it does, the scar may tighten. Of course, if it tightens too much, you're right back where you started. Let your surgeon know your concerns so he can address them with you.In my own practice, I have my patients put some cloth or padding at the bottom of the bra of the low side while it's healing, and that has often been helpful in encouraging the capsule to form at the desired level, or at least close to it.Click on the link below to see a case of capsular contracture and how the patient turned out.Good luck!

Dear Louise,Thank you for your question and photo. It is still very early in the healing process following your open capsulectomy on the right. It is important to wait at least 3 months before you will know just how asymmetric you will be. It is not rare following correction of a unilateral capsular contracture release for the released side to be softer and a bit droopier than the other breast. You may have a slight contracture on the left side that is holding the implant a bit tighter and making it higher. Also, the removal of the capsule on the contracted side may thin the breast tissue enough that you don't have quite as much support for the implant on that side now. Keep your follow up visits with your surgeon, express your concerns and  let yourself heal. Best wishes. I hoope this information helps.
