Thank you very much for your question andcongratulations on your recent CoolSculpting procedure. While mild swelling iscommon following a CoolSculpting procedure, this is generally mild and willdecrease over the next one to two weeks. It is possible that your recent weightgain is the result of water retention. Sticking to a healthy diet, drinkinglots of water, and continuing with your exercise is important for maintaining your results. If you have any furtherconcerns, I recommend reaching out to your CoolSculpting provider, who mayrecommend the use of a compression garment to further reduce swelling.
It sounds like you are still swollen from your CoolSculpting and so may be retaining water, which is causing the scales to tip a bit higher. However, 6 pounds sounds like a lot. Be sure you are eating well and doing at least light exercise until your swelling diminishes. You should try to maintain a stable weight after CoolSculpting to keep your figure looking great. If you’re concerned about your healing process, consulting with the board-certified dermatologist who treated you should allay your fears.
Coolsculpting typically does not cause weight gain. It is important to maintain your weight after Coolsculpting because the procedure only removes some of the fat in the treated area. There is still enough fatty tissue present that if you gain weight, the remaining fat cells will get bigger and negate the results you get from Coolsculpting. There is a rare condition called Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia (PAH) which has been reported in which the fat increases in the treated area, but this occurs months later.
Thank you for your question. Coolsculpting does not cause weight gain. As treatment only removes some fat in the in the treated area it is important to maintain your weight. Having moderate swelling is normal after Coolsculpting and should resolve in a few days and it can take up to 3-4 months to see results. However, there is a rare condition called Paradoxical Adipose Hyperlasia (PAH) which the fat increases in the treated area. It is too soon to develop PAH as it occurs months later. I recommend having a follow up with your treating physician for an evaluation. Best of Luck!
Areas treated by Coolsculpting do tend to swell just a little bit right after the treatment. I like to call this "puffiness." It is just a normal reaction and should resolve within 1-2 weeks. The "weight gain" you are seeing is most likely related to water retention or inflammation and will also resolve very soon.
CoolSculpting does not change weight. Swelling is expected after CoolSculpting and will go down in the next couple of weeks. Compression garments could help keep everything together and feel more comfortable.
Congradulations. It sounds like you had an effective treatment. You body has to eliminate the fat. In so doing you will swell in these tissues. Rest assured, by drinking water this will be eliminated with the fat.BestRoberta Beals, D.O.
Thank you very much for your question. The CoolSculpting applicator can indeed be placed by the umbilicus, helping to reduce fatty tissue around the navel. However, it is important that you only put your trust in a certified, experienced CoolSculpting provider. A board certified plastic surgeon,...
I have worked with a lot of different devices for non-invasive fat removal. Coolsculpting is by far the most effective. LED lights are the least effective.
The best way to treat PAH is with either Vaser or Tickle Lipo. It can also be treated non-invasively with Sculpsure but you will need multiple treatments. I had developed PAH after coolsculpting myself and was able to treat it with Sculpsure.
