Bulge after implant removal. How can this be treated?

There are changes in the breast and adjacent skin area following implant removal. If the bulge is due to fat, liposuction can be performed. Some non invasive machines like sculpsure can remove up to 30 per cent of fat in a given area. I would discuss this with your surgeon.

Swelling is a common side effect after breast implant removal.Managing swelling involves wearing a supportive compression bra and following post-operative care instructions carefully. If your swelling is completely subsided, then it is best to contact your surgeon

It is hard to say for certainty without photos, but if the bulge is on your "side boob" area near your armpit, liposuction can commonly help contour these areas. My best advice is to have an in person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon with an in person exam to devise a plan to improve your concerns!

Fabulous9098, it is not uncommon that my patients, especially ones with Breast Implant Illness, gain weight in their breasts and surrounding tissues over time. It is entirely possible that this area of concern may be amenable to liposuction of the lateral chest wall tissues. Sometimes, this may also require excision of some skin in cases where the original lift was not aggressive enough at removing skin.

The transferred fat may have become encapsulated, causing a lump to form. This is the most likely cause, but we recommend seeing a specialist for a more accurate diagnosis.

A bulge in this area is usually because of loose skin or excess fat or both. The only way to deal with loose skin is to excise it. Sometimes liposuction is used also. This would mean you would have a scar in your bra line. Plastic surgeons do not usually do this except in extreme cases. The excess skin you are referring to is very common.

If you did not have any irregularities of your breast contour prior to your augmentation, then with a simple implant removal, you should not have any contour irregularities of your breast after. This is likely a fat deposit secondary to the fat transfer that you had done. This should be able to be treated with some local liposuction in order to improve the contour. Have a discussion with your plastic surgeon about the best way forward.
