I’m interested in fillers for my cheeks, more specifically juvaderm voluma cause I had some buccal fat removed. The plastic surgeons in my area have aesthetic nurse injectors with yrs of experience and the dermatologist I have an appt with doesn’t have juvaderm voluma and only does restalyne Lyft and lip filler. Should I look at experience too? Who and why? I’ve never had fillers before. 39 yrs old/130 lbs

Answer: Finding a qualified provider Hi there, To answer your question, yes it absolutely matters who is administering your dermal fillers. The person injecting is even more important than what product is used. It is important to do your research and see the injector's reviews and before and after results. You should find out how much experience they have performing these procedures (how long they have been injecting and how often they perform them). I have often trained injectors that tell me they've been injecting for 7-8 years then when I see them inject and it is clear that they are not confident I ask if they are doing it full- time and their answer is no. Commonly on these forum someone will respond "make sure to go to a board certified dermatologist". I can tell you that I had to be dissolved twice after being injected by a board certified dermatologist. This is an art form, and if you aren't doing it daily it is really hard to be good at it. I often see the best work done by RNs and NPs because they do it daily. Hope this helps.

Answer: Experience vs specialty The experience of the injector is far more important than the persons specialty. An injector who only does a couple fillers and injection sites is a red flag for inexperienceCheck reputation first before getting injections
