Hi, unfortunately Accutane is a very aggressive medication that shut down your entire body's oil production. This can make the skin incredibly sensitive as it damages the skin's barrier. We do not recommend doing any type of chemical or aggressive physical exfoliation while using this medication. The Diamond Glow/ Silk peels use both chemical and physical forms of exfoliation. Ideally it is best to avoid receiving this treatment while using Accutane. It is recommended to wait at least 6 months post the discontinuation of this medication.Thank you for your question! Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks for your question. I would first of all get clearance from your Dermatologist before introducing anything new to your skin while on Accutane. The next thing I would do is let your provider know that you are on medication. If they are skilled they will take extreme caution while treating your skin. Make sure they are well aware of the risks involved and only use hydrating serums and a very very soft tip.ThanksBest of LuckAnil Shah MD
I would recommend waiting until 6 months after your accutane treatment is complete to move forward with any other skin treatments. Depending on accutane dosage, you may be safe to move forward, but this skin is incredibly sensitive during the course. Waiting until 6 months after the treatment is over is a very conservative/safe answer.
Hello,Good question. Yes, it is safe to get a silkpeel treatment while being on accutane.
This is a great question. You should wait 6 months after finishing your therapy with Accutane to have a treatment with Dermalinfusion. Accutane will make the skin too sensitive for this physical dermabrasion and the treatment could be very irritating. Best of luck.
Thank you for your question. No, we do not recommend you do a Silk Peel treatment while on Accutane. We recommend that you wait till you are off the medication. The skin is very sensitive while being on that prescription and we feel that it would be to stripping to the skin. Med Spa Barrington IL
Both yes and no are correct, as noted below by my colleagues. If you are on a high dose of Accutane and your skin is very dry, irritated, and red, then no, you should probably not have one as the skin is too sensitive. However, if you are on a lower dose and maintaining fine but just a little dry, then a hydrating Silkpeel is ok. I would make sure your provider knows not to use the glycolic solution on you as that will be too much no matter your dose, but a nice Vitamin C or Hydrating, will be just fine. We do this daily in our office for people on low dose Accutane regimens with great success.
