Hello Kimmy314 my name is Melanie I am a Medical Aesthetician at Aesthetic Skin located in Chicago, IL. I would prefer to treat acne with a series of chemical peels. the chemical peels may also improve the acne scars but depending upon the depth of the scaring there are other treatments available to treat the deeper post acne scaring such as subcision and bellafil. Our office completes the following treatment. I would love to discuss a plan to treat your own unique skin goals and concerns. Please feel free to give our office a call to schedule a virtual skin consultation where we can discuss your unique skin concerns and develop your treatment plan. 773-944-0117
A silk peel is a mechanical exfoliation of the skin and a dermal infusion. Meaning it takes off dead skin while nourishing the new skin. There is no down time with a silk peel other than mild erythema after the treatment that can lasts up to an hour. A chemical peel is a chemical exfoliation of the skin where you can peel up to 7 days post treatment and erythema of the skin directly after the treatment can last for 24 hours. Silk Peels are a deeper, more nourishing treatment with a lot less down time.
Dermalinfusion uses mechanical exfoliation to remove dead skin cells to allow for brighter, more radiant skin. Chemical peels rely on alpha-hydroxy acids and/or fruit acids to exfoliate the skin and may result in peeling 5-7 days after treatment. Both are viable options for treating acne and hyperpigmentation from acne. I would recommend and in-person consultation with a board-certified dermatologist to determine which peel option would be best for you.
SilkPeel is a mechanical exfoliation of dead skin cells. This exfoliation happens at the time of the treatment with no downtime. A chemical peel is an acid exfoliation that can result in mild to heavy exfoliation i.e. peeling of dead skin cells. The duration of peeling can last between 5-7 days. SilkPeel and chemical peels can help improve skin tone, skin texture and refine pores.
