That’s how I can tell they’ve had surgery. I don’t read and keep up with celebrities but if I see them on a commercial etc., their eyes look smaller. Is this an old technique? Most I’m talking about are older people. This is one reason I am afraid to have my upper eyelids ‘done’ My eyes are my best features I’m told, lol. The shape and color both. I have too many Creases though I think....would like less :) Thanks so much!!

Answer: Eyelid Surgery Thank you for that interesting observation. The reason behind the perceived smaller eyes could be that filler was added beneath the eye. The added volume could create that effect. I encourage you to find an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon who performs blepharoplasty all the time. Ask to see numerous before and after photos of previous patients. If you do not see that effect in these photos, you can rest assured your surgeon likely knows the proper techniques to perform this procedure without looking “done.”

Answer: Decrease in eyelid size after eyelid surgery If your goal is to reduce some of the excess skin and open up your eyelid area from aging, then this should not change the shape or position of your eyelids. That being said, a lot of people and perhaps celebrities want to change the way they look and either have a lot of fat removed or may have developed some eyelid drooping either from the surgery or had it unmasked after the surgery. In general, eyelid surgery should be done to make the eyelids appear more youthful and not alter the appearance of the eyelids themselves.

Answer: Eyelid surgery There could be many reasons for this finding. Three common reasons would include unrecognized upper eyelid ptosis that may not have been noticed prior, and the removal of skin no longer makes the patient compensate by lifting his or her brow. There could also be a laxity of the lower lid, and tightening the lower lid brings that outer corner up, thus narrowing the eye opening. The third could be adding filler to the lower lid/cheek region, which can change their look. I recommend looking at many before and after photos of surgeons in your area to get a better idea of results.

Answer: It is called BUPS-post upper blepharoplasty syndrome. The surgery causes the upper eyelid ptosis, upper eyelid hollows, compensatory eyebrow elevation, upper eyelid lash ptosis, and crepey upper eyelid skin, a high or absent upper eyelid crease. Upper blepharoplasty does not need to cause this but avoiding it requires the understanding that weakness in the upper eyelid tendon needs to be correct at the time of cosmetic upper blepharoplasty. It is not routine to address the weakness that is present in the aging eyelid. The result is awful surgical results even in our celebrities. The sad thing is that when those who can get care with anyone, can't find a good result, what chance does anyone else have. I assure you, that if you choose the right surgeon, your eyes do not have to be small after cosmetic eyelid surgery.
