Is there a way to thicken the pretarsal orbicularis oculi muscle under the eye? (Photos)

Question

I used a device underneath my eye a while back and I think it thinned out or caused damage to the pretarsal muscle immediately surrounding my eye, especially my left eye, causing them to look older and atrophied. Is there any way I can get that back, through surgery or strengthen it somehow? Thanks.

Fillers like Belotero, Volbella, and Restylane Silk are good for improving under the eyes, but keep in mind that a combination approach will give the most improvement. My patients try to get non-surgical treatments to avoid surgery, so we use fillers, lasers, microneedling/PRP and stem cells. A dermis fat graft (your own tissue) can be used to help volumize your lower eyelid. In addition a resurfacing procedure can help thicken the skin by increasing the dermal collagen. An in person consultation is best to determine what is best for you, however.

Alloderm dermal grafts can be placed between the muscle and the skin to thicken the soft tissue in this lower eyelid area. Interestingly this is actually a well known procedure in Asian patients known as 'Love Band' surgery. It is slightly different but the concept is the same.
